I’ve heard on the grapevine that science fiction slash fantasy readers only want one thing. Naked women! What’s with that, eh? What we need are dudes. The type that make you feel really uncomfortable. No mention of fantasy or anything. Just a dude and… The Quest!

Gah my eyes really are burning with this one.
It makes me feel a little bit… dirty….
Right, that’s it I am not taking any more pictures of these books. That’s the final one. Naked women will follow tomorrow! *giggles*

Oh good lord.
He looks like a Giant, just bathing himself in the sea… i bet thats it, its the story of how Finn McCool forged the Giant’s Causeway in his “quest” to be with his Scottish lover Benandonner (rather unfortunate name).

I shall dedicate tomorrow to braiding, trimming and starching my underarm hair until it too says ‘Kearney is a master storyteller’. Very neat trick, yer feller has there.

That’s not about sf/f readers; it’s about romance readers. Hence the blurb from Henley. Also the lack of women with swords, explosions, or starships.

She’s a female author of a genre that likes naked people on their book covers. So it actually makes a lot of sense.

This fellow does NOT look like he’s on a quest, unless it’s for the perfect sauna.

I’m rather glad that these types of books (romance-(any other genre)) all have very similar covers. Its like having a big red light and siren blaring “Warning! Warning!” so one isn’t even tempted to pick it up.
At least that’s how it works for me. I suppose for some it has the exact opposite effect….
