THOR! The mighty god with a hatred of pink fonts!Click for full image

Art Direction: Lets break away from the common Thor look stereotype. And by break away, I mean just don’t give him a cape. Keep the male skirt, shaved legs, long blonde hair and bunny ears helmet!

    Now…If I can…just hit it…here…TING!…There, that should do it!

Be fair, art director: he’s not trying to be Thor, he’s surely Mercury/Hermes the Winged Messenger (http://tinyurl.com/wingedmess ). Although quite why he’s carrying a celestial mallet is beyond me.

I’ve never seen anyone so elated to be wearing a powder blue dress.

At last, Fabio gets his own SF novel!

Giant space dreadnought vs. one guy with a mallet…

    Whaddya mean “unfairly matched”??

  5. Tom Noir Says:

Hellloooo, Thor! Do those legs go all the way up??

He looks more like he’s delivering the hammer than attacking the ship with it. (in high dweeby voice) “Hey guys! You forgot your hammer!”

  6. SI Says:

The Ting! on this is very impressive. Nearly as impressive as Thor’s glow. Maybe he’s pregnant.

The story synopsis is about people bringing to life great mythical warriors to have a great battle for some sort of twisted pleasure. In my opinion the art missed out. Thor could have been battling against Merlin… and Hercules… and Sindbad all at the same time.

    Maybe next time.

Once again the pretty boy gets the cover while Volstagg the Voluminous is nowhere to be seen.

@Tom Noir–good one. You made me snort coffee up my nose.

Pastel hammers–a new way to say “I love you” from your FTD florist.

  9. A.R.Yngve Says:

Incidentally, the blurb “Welcome to the ultimate war game” was recycled from about FIVE THOUSAND Baen books.

  10. Dalton H. Says:

How much you wanna bet that the climactic battle at the end of the book was LONGER AND BETTER than Thor’s?

  11. Monty Says:

Thor attacking a giant space dreadnought with a hammer is actually exactly what happens in the book. Well, I think the hammer has a nuclear bomb in it, but the point stands: this accurately illustrates a scene from the story. And it’s a good book, honest!

According to the author, “That’s a girl!”. Yes, really. I mentioned this site to him and he went all misty-eyed ^_^!
