    Excellent five o’clock shadow, there.

  2. THX 1138 Says:

“Darn clown nose keeps slipping up my forehead…”

  3. anon Says:

Wasn’t that woman in Doctor Who?

  4. SI Says:

“No no you’ve got the wrong lost world, there’s loads of them. Go back to Narina follow the signs to Electric Dragon World! It’s just on your left after that.”

  5. Dead Stuff With Big Teeth Says:

Tusko’s tusks are longer than he is! What mighty neck muscles he must have…or very light, low-inertia tusks.

And what a fellow he is, standing around so all of the gigantic cave men can butcher him right quick.

  6. Tom Noir Says:

Take THAT Middle Earth and Narnia! BOOM!

Would have liked to see them get in a swipe against Hogwarts too.

  7. fred Says:

The land of the blonde cavemen who hunt big game with small white dogs and live in donuts? Sorry, you can’t get thayah from heeyah. I can give you directions to Oz if you want.

  8. Dead Stuff With Big Teeth Says:

‘A Choice of Gods’ by Clifford Simak is back at left. Marshall’s god isn’t the god I would choose.

  9. Tat Wood Says:

You can’t go wrong with a Baluchitherium. Although they’re giving it a good try.

  10. Tat Wood Says:

The face is the sky is Conchita Wurst, surely?

@Tat: Paraceratherium was hornless! That looks like an embolothere with a swizzle stick jammed through its forehead.

  13. A.R.Yngve Says:

“A thrilling journey to a world beyond Middle Earth and Narnia”…
You mean the REAL world? I grant you it can be thrilling now and then, but…

  14. JJYoyo Says:

Seems like an attempt to give a Sid &Marty Krofft show some bourgeois respectability:
    🎶Marshall,Will, and Holly’s
    Transcendental Meditation
Got a little… out of hand
    Long astral planing
To a Bob Ross Ice Age painting
They were stuck in the Lost Land…land…land….land…”

  15. GSS ex-noob Says:

@JJ: that would explain the mish-mosh of geologic eras we see here. Sid and Marty were never big on scientific realism.

That sky-face is just creepier and more unnecessary the more I look at it. For something that’s a “thrilling journey”, it sure looks bored.

I guess there’s dwindling returns on the quality of fantasy worlds, the farther you go; beyond Middle-Earth and Narnia, the best you can do is … this.

  16. Bruce A Munro Says:

@GSS ex-noob: well, things go downhill if you keep going straight, but if you take the first off-ramp at Middle Earth you can get to Newhon and other actually interesting places.

  17. GSS ex-noob Says:

@Bruce: You need a good map from the FAA (Fantasy Automobile Assn.).

I bet if you go beyond the sky face, you just end up in the Land of the Generic Big-Box fantasy, with nothing but Orc-Mart.

  18. Bruce A Munro Says:

“I bet if you go beyond the sky face, you just end up in the Land of the Generic Big-Box fantasy, with nothing but Orc-Mart.”

No doubt they carry a bunch of Baen products.

  19. GSS ex-noob Says:

@Bruce: So you’ve seen their ads!

Stacked high on palettes and sold by weight, not volume. Or the other way around. You’ll never find cheaper deals on Generic Extruded Fantasy Product anywhere!

Also there’s a lot more cleavage than in the quality name-brand stories. The orcs are a simple folk. Literally made from the common clay of…
