You might remember this hairdo from here.

Presenting the Cageworld X-1, the first spaceship designed to walk instead.

@admins, looks like this is part of a series of some kind.

  2. THX 1138 Says:

Well, if you will go into a newsagent’s in Liverpool…

  3. Tom Noir Says:

@DSWBT: According to Goodreads, everything is a series:

    To Kill A Mocking Bird (Scout-verse #1)
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (The Adventures of Tom and Huck #2)
Merry Wives of Windsor (Fallstaff Trilogy #3)

  4. JuanPaul Says:

Zeusie searches for solar shells by the sunspot.

  5. Bibliomancer Says:

He could play NFL football wearing that hair-helmet.

  6. fred Says:

There’s a lot of st tos on this cover.

  7. Francis Boyle Says:

It’s over there between the sky. . .and the other bit of sky.

  8. Dead Stuff With Big Teeth Says:

find ../sh/Solar “sun” -user Zeus -print

  9. Tor Mented Says:

Could this cover be the inspiration for a popular meme?

  10. Raoul Says:

@Tor – Could be. But that’s given me another idea: “Cageworld” starring Nic Cage! Let’s Kickstarter this new franchise.

  11. Yoss Says:

At first glance, you might think Zeus is one of the men on this cover. But this is Zeus we’re talking about. He’s actually assumed the form of that leggy spaceship in an attempt to woo some misguided young lady.

  12. Tor Mented Says:

@Raoul: Yes! Cage was born to play this. It would be his greatest role since Wicker Man.

  13. fred Says:

Hair guy is Maq Ancor – Master Assassin. Because……….inconspicuousness is no longer a hallmark of Master Assassins?

  14. B. Chiclitz Says:

So Zeus is up to the old shell game is he? What shell is the babe under? This shell? That shell? Is she under the sun? The toga? The cloak? Don’t be fooled! Learn how Zeus manages to get so much action!

  15. Tat Wood Says:

A Moon made of green cheese waits within a Lunar Scalextric

    @THX: nice one!

  16. Bibliomancer Says:

    Search for the Sun?
    He’s Sol searching.

  17. Dead Stuff With Big Teeth Says:

The face of a man who’s interested in trying out an argument before he signs up for the course of ten.

  18. B. Chiclitz Says:

    @B’Mance— 😉

  19. Tor Mented Says:

After seeing so many SF covers, I want to be cryogenically frozen. Then I can wake up in a future where I can wear capes and togas while women wear almost nothing.
    The future looks good.

  20. Dead Stuff With Big Teeth Says:

@Tor: stop being such an American movie producer and GET OUT OF MY FRIGIDAIRE!

Edit:at least he doesn’t want to wear almost nothing to wake up in a future where women wear capes and togas and men are cryogenically frozen. 😉

  21. Tor Mented Says:

@DSWBT: All other men are cryogenically frozen? That sounds like a better deal. I might even — y’know — get a date.

  22. Tor Mented Says:

(I should get a date when SOMETHING freezes over, anyway.)

  23. GSS ex-noob Says:

This appears to be a random assemblage of sci-fi-esque objects, save for Helmet Hair Hero. I’m thinking that really is his hair as described in the series, since it’s so consistent(ly awful) across books.

Why is the green cheese moon within an off-center metal ring? Is it some space cheese slicer? Is the non-bearded, non-thunderbolted young chap supposed to be Zeus? Where’s Apollo, the sun is his thing? Why pyramids? Why the excessively-limbed spaceship thingy?

He must be a Master Assassin to succeed while sporting that hairdo.

Indeed, these books simply cry out for Nic Cage in a cheap red wig to star in the movie version. They might make more sense.

BTW, I read the blurb as “Solar shield”, which made me think of this:
    http://solarshield.com/
(Clip-ons oooh! Imagine Nic in this http://solarshield.diopticssunwear.com/rec-54-night-drivers)

@DSWBT(8): that’s us saved from reading the whole book. Elegant.

  24. JJYoyo Says:

Helmet-hair reminds me of John Waite c. 1979:

Every time I think of Zeus
    You always come out green,
    Every time I dream of
    An earwig-shaped machine…..

  25. GSS ex-noob Says:

    @Emster:

But I ain’t missing you at all
Since I got me this wig…

    (It was c. 1984)

  26. A. R. Yngve Says:

“Ha haa! I shall flush down the green planet in my Cosmo-Toilet, and Flash Gordon won’t stop me!”
