Good Show Sir Comments: I thought riding side saddle was supposed to be more lady-like.

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! I don’t think you quite have the hang of dressage.

  2. Bibliomancer Says:

Looks like Conan has captured some booty.

  3. fred Says:

I see a bad moon riding.

  4. Francis Boyle Says:

I suspect it says something about the intended audience for this book that I understood most of the blurb even though I’ve never learnt Italian.

Also, Conan, you’re attempts to not grope the woman you’ve just abducted, while admirable, is a putting her life at risk. Get a better grip man!

  5. Dave Van Domelen Says:

Damn it, Conan, you need to support her head properly. And maybe get your combined center of mass over the horse.

  6. THX 1139 Says:

Of course, for Conan this is the equivalent of a pair of furry dice hanging from your rear view mirror.

  7. drlemaster Says:

Um, how tall is that woman supposed to be? Or is Conan just very short in this version?

  8. Tom Noir Says:

He’s about to drop that poor woman.

The horse looks upset, as it should.

  9. fred Says:

Jumping from the castle wall with her in his arms onto the back of the horse seems likely.

  10. Longtime_Lurker Says:

As to the blurb, it’s rather charming that “heroic fantasy” is in English.

  11. Tor Mented Says:

Swords clash! Passions flare! In Conan’s greatest adventure, “Lady Godiva Falls on her Duff!”

  12. B. Chiclitz Says:

Well, I hate to admit it, but I like this cover. I think it’s well drawn, has a good color scheme, is composed well, and captures the spirit of the original Conan. That’s a good horse too. And Conan is strong enough to have balanced his handcuffed damsel with one finger. Hey, he’s Conan!

And “il Cimmero” (stress on first syllable) sounds cooler in Italian than “The Cimmerian” does in English, at least to my ears.

  13. Bibliomancer Says:

@B. Chiclitz – You’re just into it for the culo. 🙂

  14. Tor Mented Says:

Aaaaand I just realized that “duff” means something else in Merrie Olde. Consider that a bum post.

  15. L.B. Says:

Shouldn’t that skull merit a BEHIND YOU tag as well?

  16. Tag Wizard Says:

    @ Tor – Cheeky comment

  17. Tom Noir Says:

@TM: We consider all your posts to be bum posts.

  18. Tor Mented Says:

@Tom: I’d respond to that, but I can’t be arsed.

  19. Anti-Sceptic Says:

    Girl: “I have to pee.”

Conan: “I’m not pulling over. I told you to go before!…Just hang on and do it as we go.”

  20. GSS ex-noob Says:

    Blurbissimo!

That woman is larger than Conan. Her legs might be longer than the horse’s. Could be her bum’s larger than the horse’s as well.

“Fangool” is the word that comes to mind.

    Conan the Simmered….
