Mr Wizard Comments: “That’s the last time I drink tequila shots with Cthulhu.”

Published 1947

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! My only fear is laughing to death.

    Good news, Tor Johnson’s back!

I think The Miskatonic University Sorority Shower Fear would sell more copies.

  4. JuanPaul Says:

He seems dubious about the “other stories”. One can only imagine the horror of the filler they put in there.

    @Mr Wizard

If your are going to do shots with an entity likely to drive you mad, might as well double down and make it absinthe.

That Garfield the Cat — he so hates Mondays! Let’s see what laughs he has for us today.

  7. Tor Mented Says:

I’m not sure what “Lurkinq” is. I never associated Lovecraft with kinqiness.

  8. Anna T. Says:

I agree with Mr. Wizard: it does appear that the Wolfman is waking up from one hell of a drinking binge.

  9. B. Chiclitz Says:

Those figures in the upper right corner resemble the Ghostly Trio, which means he’s Casper, and this is how he turns out after embracing a life of absinthe, unnameable horror, and general Cthulhu badassness. Not so cute and cuddly anymore, eh Casper?

What comic-strip cats think of H. P. Lovecraft:

(Explanation – the writer/artist for “Breaking Cat News”, Georgia Dunn, is a native of Rhode Island, and apparently is a fan of Lovecraft.)

@Tor: HPL wasn’t even into reqular sexinq, I hear.

@Hammy: I <3 BCN. Always hard-hitting about the news that matters.

I think the creature on this cover could easily be taken out by three indoor-only domestic cats.

20 years ago, I think this guy was on the "Wazzzzuuuuppp" commercials.

He's not very eldritch, squamous, or scary with his lurkinq; certainly no Bokrug.

“Gah! That’s the last time I try Pure Water….”

  13. fred Says:

The artist actually went to the trouble to get the mismatched eye colors correct.
