    Little suspicion had anyone that violinists in the New York Symphonic were spearheading alien invasion.

    His gun looks like a robot lap-dog that can shoot lasers out of his mouth.

  10. B. Chiclitz Says:

    Art Editor: Well, Mr. Elron, what do you think of the cover?

    Mr. Elron: Frankly, Bob, I’m appalled at the cheap product-placement plug for The New Yorker magazine you’ve slapped on that skyscraper. I’ve just realized we’ve got to get all of this shadowy corporate money out of science fiction and into religion, where it belongs!

  11. Bruce A Munro Says:

    Ah, the famous New York mustard mist. Goes well with hot dogs.

  12. Bruce A Munro Says:

    That ray gun really doesn’t look like it would fit in that violin case.

  13. GSS ex-noob Says:

    @Raoul: GSS!

    @Bruce: maybe it’s not a ray gun. Maybe it’s a ketchup gun to go with the mustard mist.

    I thought this was a futuristic invasion series — is this a 30’s flashback? But considering Elron was dead when this was written, I guess I shouldn’t be looking for any sort of temporal continuity.

  14. Francis Boyle Says:

    @Bruce

    Origami gun! (The violins’s just a fashion accessory.)

    There are several tacky things about this cover – such as the title at the bottom, the image in the middle, and the name at the top.
