You are the worst shot ever, he's behind you!Click for full image

Throw out this idea of a whole picture and think in terms of layers. Just concentrate on four of them, a women with a bad hair cut firing a laser, a tiny women in a floating tea cup, a huge bald guy about to attack and some people in an arena watching. Slap it all together and we’re sorted!

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! Feels so good!Good Show Sir! (Average: 7.61 out of 10)

Do you think Elizabeth Moon was upset that only Anne got a red diamond around her name?

Love the parallelogram around the title of the book, and also the trapezium around the number 3.

Its a good day to be a quadrilateral, yep, a very good day.

  2. James Lovegrove Says:

The woman’s pose is an almost direct swipe from a still of Princess Leia. The artist has just made her hair look even more absurd.

  3. Adam Roberts Says:

I like to think Mongo, in the background, is saying: ‘let go of my tie you crazy dwarf-woman!’

  4. Adam Roberts Says:

Also. CSA: sorry, I wasn’t listening. What was that you said about Anne Diamond?

  5. SI Says:

At least the guy has pretty good shoulder pads! You know he must be important.

This is one I want made into a little flash movie like the Webber one….

  6. stevetalbert Says:

this cover was a copy of Star Wars or Star Wars was a copy of it…

wait… maybe I saw it on Star Trek Voyager…

Are the generation warriors the 2 women?? is it her daughter? her mother? her sister??!! .. I have to read this book

  7. CSA Says:

She does have the patented Janeway hairdo. But the laser gun is clearly from starwars.

I think the women are actually one in the same person. I think the image of her shooting is meant to be from a different scene from the courtroom drama behind. I’m most likely wrong, but it’s still what i think goddammit.

  8. Maxload Says:

I really hope Anne McCaffrey signs her name with the diamond that way.

  9. A.R.Yngve Says:

This cover is a cultural snapshot — see how it starts all “80s” at the top, then the 90s start to bleed into it…

  10. anon Says:

@A.R.Yngve: I must confess I don’t see it, though the shooting woman seems almost 60s or 70s from the neck down… It’s positively Space: 1999.

That guy is one huge mother and therefore, so are the ladies. Either that or the spectators are tiny.
