Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! Bonus points: No cleavage, realistic everyday people, no ass turned to the front.

Bad points: Nerf gun… won’t be buying.

  2. Phil Says:

Red white. Two words. Series title. Author name. Book title. Red white.

    Any font you choose, however.

  3. Scott B Says:

    Tanya Blood Blood Lifetime!

  4. Adam Roberts Says:

Is that a young Stewart Lee, on the right?

  5. THX 1138 Says:

“I told you we should have gone to Laser Quest…”

  6. A.R.Yngve Says:

“Tonight on Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle, I’d like to talk about Urban Fantasy. You know that ‘tough woman hunts supernatural creatures’ sub-genre of inane escapism targeted at semi-retarded media junkies…”

  7. Adam Roberts Says:

I must say Richard Herring is a lot less attractive-looking now than he was then.

  8. Rachel J Says:

    Other titles in this series:

    “Blood Trail”
    “Blood Lines”
    “Blood Pact”
    “Blood Debt”
    “Blood Bank”

    This is not a joke.

  9. Del Says:

Adam Roberts was possibly being facetious when he said the hunk on the right looked like a young Stewart Lee, but the guy is apparently named Kyle Schmidt and he’s the actor who plays the 450-year-old vampire in the original series on Lifetime. I wondered why the woman looked familiar until i saw the smaller print and figured it out.

  10. Adam Roberts Says:

“Adam Roberts was possibly being facetious …”

    The very idea!

  11. Tom Noir Says:

Adam, you should have a doctor check that out.

  12. L.B Says:

So is this a series based on a show or a show based on a series? And how much is Nerf getting for the product placement?

  13. Del Says:

Sorry i don’t get jokes about Stewart Lee or Richard Herring since i don’t really know who they are. Anyway, who would be considered the artist for a book cover that’s from a photograph of actual people? The cover designer?

  14. Phil Says:

What, no Blood BATH in that series? Blood GROUP? Blood STAIN? Blood CLOT? Blood BROTHERS? Oh wait, that one’s taken.

Del, photographers are artists too. Or so they claim…

  15. THX 1138 Says:

“You know this gun only fires T-shirts, right?”

  16. fred Says:

A vampire book with pointy bits on the font. I’m gobsmacked.

  17. Phil Says:

Not so much Stewart Lee as an uncharacteristically long-haired Max Beesley.

  18. Donald Simmons Says:

The show was based on the series of books and the books were pretty good.

  19. Sophaloaf Says:

So, that’s where the yellow submarine went.

  20. Tim Says:

I think that’s one of the Van Halen brothers….

  21. Ian Says:

Surely the other titles in the series would be

    Blood Ties
    Blood Belts
    Blood Shoes
    Blood Coat
    Blood Scarf

  22. Phil Says:

Ian, this brings us to the nub of the problem with the cover design. I assumed BLOOD TIES was the series title, and BLOOD PRICE was the volume title.

With this assumption, I project that the volumes should run as follows:

    Blood Price
    Blood Cushing
    Blood Chaney
    Blood Lugosi
    Blood Karloff
    Blood Lee

  23. A.R.Yngve Says:

The text layout (note the clumsy use of red letters!) can be misread hilariously:

    TANYA _ _ __ HUFF

  24. A.R.Yngve Says:

“Blood Ties — Stylish Neckwear For Neck Lovers”

  25. Hep C Says:

I suppose Huff Price is a misspelling of “half price”.

  26. Anti-Sceptic Says:

Which one is the girl and which one is the dude?

  27. Rags Says:

    Ahh vampire books……

This is the grande finale scene, where the androgynous-female type character, sprays the androgynous-male type character with her super soaker of kool-aid!!!

  28. anon Says:

Blood Ties by Tanya Blood & Huff Price.

Wait, is that Christina Cox on the cover? Who’s the bloke?

  29. Dead Stuff With Big Teeth Says:

  30. A.R.Yngve Says:

“They came to buy blood — but the price was sheer murder!”
