Ghost boob!!! Ghost boob!!!Click for full UNLEWISED image

Nina’s Art Direction: Draw me the story of a ghost…of a woman…in her pants, with a cat, and John Lennon. In a wooden cabin, flying through the sky. Yes, draw THAT ghost story.
Published 1985 (maybe)

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! Montage pile-up!!! My copy has a far more tasteful cover.

  2. Tat Wood Says:

Not seeing John Lennon. Tommy Vance, maybe.

  3. Tat Wood Says:

The sad thing is, at first I thought CS Lewis was part of the original, ahem, ‘design’.

  4. MisterBOB Says:

Don’t think its John Lennon – is it not that Survivalist chap from the Jerry Ahern books ?

  5. SI Says:

“Look you maybe simultaneously horrific and slightly erotic… but it’s freezing in so make sure to close that door.”

  6. Dead Stuff With Big Teeth Says:

There’s a phantom Mustang in the rafters, how did you miss that?

  7. Tom Noir Says:

Fortunately, Ghost Censorship Cat is on the case!

I was going to say that the remaining ghost boob looks misplaced, but then I realized I don’t know what the hell is supposed to be going on here anyway so there’s no point complaining.

  8. Bob Says:

    Original title, unoriginal cover

  9. THX 1138 Says:

Actually this cover does depict elements of the story, they’re just all mashed up together in a mess. Pretty great book actually, thought of as a “new” classic horror novel at the time, but a bit forgotten now Straub concentrates on his serial killer thrillers these days.

Weird composition, your eyes are inexorably knickers drawn towards pants certain elements of knickers the scene that shouldn’t catface!!! really be the main focus

  11. A.R.Yngve Says:

They should’ve used a still picture from the movie version — that’s how you sell books today…

THX 1138: I think everyone’s copy has a more tasteful cover. I’d love to see the cover that proves me wrong, though.

  13. Zond Says:

So that’s what happened to D.B. Cooper.

  14. fred Says:

Toonces, the cat who could drive a car to your book cover and photobomb it.

  15. THX 1138 Says:

We haven’t seen Clive for a while. You could use this cover for his Screwtape Letters, if that is indeed a book about his VHS porn collection.

  16. Dead Stuff With Big Teeth Says:

@THX: I thought Screwtape Letters was that Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann fixfic.

Peter Straub puts the HO in GHOST STORY

  17. Yoss Says:

    I don’t see a phantom Mustang, but I do see Lincoln’s ghost.

  18. Anna T. Says:

There seems to be some sort of multi-ghost merger going on, which is about the most sense that could possibly be made of this cover.

  19. B. Chiclitz Says:

Any comments about this cover should be briefs.

  20. Bibliomancer Says:

    Pussy Ghosts Galore!

  21. Francis Boyle Says:

And I’m now seriously disappointed that Ghost Kitteh isn’t a new addition to the GSS modesty menagerie.

  22. JuanPaul Says:

If a ghost howls in a cabin and no one is around to hear it, does anybody give a crap?

  23. David Van Domelen Says:

Had to use CS Lewis, the cat ate the sheep.

  24. fred Says:

Anatomically speaking, the pussy is out of place.
