Good Show Sir’s Art Direction: It’ll be just like our D&D game we played last night… except John from Accounting can be the hunk attacking a skeleton… and Dianne the Receptionist can be the sword-wielding damsel in a cape!

Frank Comments: Saw this at the Friends of the Library sale where I volunteer, and remembered one of my brothers had a copy of it when I was very young. I remember being very creeped out by the image of the stuffing coming out of the open head. And they did it again on the back cover!

Yes, Twilight Zone is a franchise…
…but this is amazing!
Good Show Sir’s Art Direction: KITTY! KITTY! Get off my keyboard! If you don’t get off this instant you are going on that cover in hell we’re getting done. Cause that’s where you belong… RIGHT! You’re going on… you are going on there… with Genghis Khan… in hell! That will teach you.

Many thanks to A. Waltz for tweeting this in!
Good Show Sir’s Art Direction: OH NO! I forgot all about that bloody book cover… crap it’s due tomorrow. Oh man… WAIT… is your son still in that drama club? Great! We’ll head over, get some props, slap a wig on a skeleton and take a picture. It’s better than nothing… right?

Sonya’s Art Direction: Instead of two views of wonder, how about a riot of color and image? Perhaps a plant for every short story in the collection? Oh, and throw in a Frida Kahlo lookalike holding a skull ala Hamlet to show that these are serious stories…

Many thanks to Sonya!
Richard’s Art Direction: Ok, I want the devil playing chess on a life-size board with warriors from different periods of history. Don’t forget to throw in a few other random characters, at least one man must clad in leather and a scarf and find a spot for a woman in a bathing suit with a parasol. Then make it from the perspective of an opposing chess piece. Yeah, those should all come together nicely.
Excellent! Thanks to Richard!
And now for the real cover:
You might remember seeing this previously on Good Show Sir: Sunrunner’s Fire
Stutzman comments: So here is the Australia cover for that very same book (found in a used bookstore in the US), which is hideous beyond words. Same general elements: dragon, wizardly dude in robes, rocks. The execution, however… oh, my eyes.
Thanks very much to Stutzman!
So this is the cover I came up with, what do you think? Tim? Paul? Guys? Did you like the inclusion of the berries, the half skull, and subtle heart monitoring line? The large glowing atom in a circle on the dudes head? I’ll take your silence as a yes.
Thanks to CSA!
