Scott B’s Art Direction: OK, I want a triad of spiritual guru, alien Venus, and bull-man, linked by a strip of computer punch tape (futuristic!). Also, it must have a hummingbird-whale. I insist.

E Comments: According to my husband, his dog chewed up the cover of this book. I think the dog was making a statement. Like why the hell are those people sitting in a hollowed-out asteroid?

Ian Comments: This is not a terrible cover – it quite accurately depicts the book’s contents. It’s the UK edition cover. The US cover follows..
Ian comments: This is what the US publisher used for the book. It is, incidentally, a steampunk space opera, with Victorians in space.
Both were published in 1993
Cathal’s Art Direction: It’s quite simple. A flaming-winged, bikini-clad woman with a sun for a head, rising out of a lopsided cauldron. And an amazon with a flaming arrow. See if you can make the amazon lopsided too, maybe give her two left legs… Looking good!

Many thanks to Cathal!
Zycrow’s Art Direction:
“So the art director told me he needed hot air balloons and they needed to be badass. How am I going to do that?”
“Easy. Add spikes.”
“Oh, that’s good. Like how many? Three? Four?”
“All of them. All of the spikes. Oh, and a dinosaur, and some wolves. That oughta cover it.”
Published 1980
Many thanks to Zycrow!
John Comments: The artwork reminds me of a late 1950s B Movie.

Real men wear loincloths.
Many thanks to John!
Ashton Comments: This accurately depicts the eponymous story, except I don’t recall the protagonist being described as the smuggest douche in the universe in an equally terrible shirt.

Many thanks to Ashton!
Stevie Comments: Jack Chalker’s Wonderland Gambit Book 2 is wild. That hot demonic guy with a massive glowing genital lesion doing who knows what to those dudes with the plumbing coming out of their heads. Who comes up with this stuff!

Many thanks to Stevie!
