JuanPaul Comments: Narcissists repel each other like two objects with the same type of charge. It’s science.

You’ve been so prolific lately I’m thinking of adding a “JuanPaul Monday”.  The rest of you. Start sending in more covers! — GSS Admin

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! The Hair movie flopped, Beverly D’Angelo, give it up.

  2. RachelJ Says:

So, uh… any theories on what’s supposed to be happening in this scene?

  3. fred Says:

That guacamole is probably the most intelligent life form on the cover.

  4. JuanPaul Says:

    @gssadmin aww you *blushes*

P.s. and that’s only a quarter of what’s at at the local use book store. Quite a bit left to discover.

  5. Tom Noir Says:

@gssadmin: I know I’ve submitted a number of covers through the years that have never shown up here. I don’t know if they’ve vanished into some kind of spam filter. Just for one example there was one called Superbaby which I am quite sure I sent in ages ago. You should rifle through the broom closet and see if there aren’t a few other covers stashed away in there.

  6. GSS Admin Says:

@Tom Noir – My apologies. If you or anyone else had an especially terrible cover you have submitted, that failed to get posted during our heydey years, please resubmit for reconsideration.

  7. B. Chiclitz Says:

For a kaleidoscope, it’s kind of weak on the color variations.

  8. Bibliomancer Says:

Catherine Deneuve IS “The Girl with the Bib-Overall Tattoo”.

  9. Tom Noir Says:

@admin: it’s been so long I have trouble remembering what I have and haven’t submitted. But I just sent you three I don’t see on here.

  10. GSS Admin Says:

@Tom Noir. Thanks but could you please send them through the submit button on the site. I’m having trouble with direct sends to my email address.

  11. GSS Admin Says:

@Tom Noir – Superbaby is quite terrible, as promised. I’ll have it up later this week!

  12. Tat Wood Says:

‘Flashdance’ – the Industrial Injury Compensation Claim edition

  13. Tor Mented Says:

Is that kale I do scope leaking out of the box?

  14. Tom Noir Says:

@GSSAdmin – sent all three using the submit button! Do you see them?

  15. Tom Noir Says:

The other two were ‘O Pioneer’ and ‘Privateer’.

  16. GSS Admin Says:

    @TN – Yes. All good.

  17. JuanPaul Says:

Tag Wizard, you missed a ting! Maybe it doesn’t count because the ting is on the graffiti, meaning it was applied by some graffiti artist in the world of the novel, who probably doesn’t appear in the novel as a character. This hurts my brain.

  18. Tag Wizard Says:

@JuanPaul – Would Ting! on graffiti lettering be fonTing! ?
Does graffiti even have a font?
The differences between the “lens flare” tag and Ting!
    Discuss.

  19. Tat Wood Says:

I’ve re-sent a few but my favourite, from the French collection, is too big to attach. It’s a jpeg at the moment, just under one MB. That’s one reason I ditched that camera.

  20. Tor Mented Says:

@Tat: The photos I take with my phone are too big. I open them with Paint, hit “resize” and reduce the width to 1,500 pixels. Then they go through.

  21. GSS ex-noob Says:

I sent in a BUNCH of covers you haven’t used. Months ago. Through Submit. Ask TW. A batch in October and another a month or two later.

I picked up a Dick Blade novel recently, but it’s one of the later ones and the cover is pretty boring. Dull colors and Dick’s wearing full trousers.

I wonder if this cover has anything to do with any of the stories (one’s called “The Girl Who Took Lessons”, wink wink nudge nudge) or if it was cheap from the “80’s Art Closeout Sale, All Covers Must GO!”

Much as I pester TW to add tags, I don’t see any reason for Ting! here. Nothing in this gray cargo hold/warehouse is bright enough to Ting!

Is there a tag just for “jeans” or does that also require “t-shirt”?

  22. Francis Boyle Says:

You’ve got a Dick I haven’t seen? I demand to see the Dick!

And yes I’ve been waiting for ages to use that one.

  23. Tracy Says:

The girl looks like she just socked him on the jaw and he’s falling back, but her arm is in the wrong position. The cover would have been more exciting if she had.

  24. GSS ex-noob Says:

I’ll submit the Dick (a-hem), but I warn you, it’s disappointing. There’s cleavage but that’s it. Also the plot was dull and Dick was way too un-caddish. He was basically James Bond in a barely-alternate England and Eastern Bloc. All the sex was consensual. Dragons do pop up at the end, but only as genetic constructs. #24 “The Dragons of Englor”.

Regarding this cover, it looks like dude is about to do the Flashdance bit.

  25. THX 1138 Says:

Flashdance has now been appropriated by Deadpool, I’m afraid.

  26. RachelJ Says:

@GSS Admin. Cover sent earlier today. Very shiny, with many tentacles. I think you’ll like it.

  27. A.R.Yngve Says:

The cover that screams “I’m too cool for you to deserve looking at me.”

Perhaps it’s Art. Or maybe just pretentious. I have NO idea.

  28. B. Chiclitz Says:

Way back @Rachel J—I’ve been pondering your question for more than a year now and I think I finally know the answer: yoga toe bending exercise.
