Paul Comments: “Do these pants make my ass look fat?”

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! “I need this for balance – my feet are too small.”

I don’t know what this game is but I want it televised NOW. It’s definitely one sport I could get behind.

“It’s after Labor Day and she’s wearing white boots! Ruuuunn!!!

Health insurance for Area 51 workers regarding prostate cancer screenings appears to be using an out of network provider this year.

  5. B. Chiclitz Says:

Hard to tell if those saucers are coming down from the sky or rising up from the ocean.

  6. Monty Says:

A kind of skeet shooting where a hit only counts if the target lands on someone.

  7. Bruce A Munro Says:

    Fashion shows of the apocalypse.

  8. Anti-Sceptic Says:

This cover is from 1976? They certainly nailed the skinny jeans and white t-shirt fashion trend of the future (present?). The helmet and over-sized ray gun….not so much.

  9. Tat Wood Says:

@Anti-Sceptic: don’t be so sure https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2019/jan/04/london-fashion-week-mens-charles-jeffrey-loverboy-david-beckham-menswear (especially the last two).

I’m going to watch an episode of Nathan Barley to recover my composure.

Is it Underwhelming Hero Week at GSS?

  11. Bruce A Munro Says:

The people flee from the twin menaces of flying saucers and poorly realized cosplay. [1]

@B. Chiclitz, I dunno if this is a beach or a desert. Are those waves in the lower background or just poorly drawn clouds?

[1] Indeed, this looks like the Book of the (low budget) Movie, complete with screenshot.

  12. GSS ex-noob Says:

@THX: Indeed. Her feet are so tiny I was wondering if she’s Post-Apocalyptic Murder Barbie.

@Bruce: It’s something you’d see on SyFy late at night, made 20 years ago.

I can’t tell if it’s a beach or a desert either. I’m thinking desert, but that cloud/wave at left could be either. Perhaps it’s a beach in a desert area.

I read the description of this on Goodreads and the book also seems to be WTF.

  13. loonry Says:

it’s a scifi cover made in the 70s?
funny thing is, these clothes are current fashions, so the future has arrived!!!

  14. Tor Mented Says:

Perhaps this cover is a reverse-angle view of the cover of Pearl of Patmos.
And you know what that means: The people in the background are a bunch of Dicks.

  15. A.R.Yngve Says:

When the young Boris Vallejo saw this cover, he realized he had found his life’s calling. This was what he wanted to paint for the rest of his life.

  16. Tat Wood Says:

Does she have a Zapata moustache? If so, I’ve spotted this week’s theme.

  17. GSS ex-noob Says:

@Tor: GSS! They do look starkers.

  18. Bruce A Munro Says:

@GSS at comment 12: a lot of Van Vogt’s non-fixup novels tend to be WTF. IIRC, he considered it a good idea to take the plot off in some totally new direction every few chapters or so.

  19. GSS ex-noob Says:

@Bruce: which is probably why I only care for his fixups.

Wonder if it was the Dianetics…
