Good Show Sir Comments: I guess this qualifies as a “Two-fer Tuesday”.

Thanks again to Alain for sending us those terrible J’ai Lu’s!

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! The secret horror inside of Christmas ornaments has been exposed. Whatever you do, don’t break them.

Maybe that should be “J’ai Lu-Lu.”

On the plus side, nobody’s going to pilfer this cover and get an Actual Cash Prize http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/1044375.stm

No thanks, I’ll stick with my collection of Xenomorph eggs.

@Tat – That cover sure looks like plagiarism to me. Did he trace the original?

I think we all would have loved to hear Heinlein’s own comments on this one. As an old salt, I’m sure the word “balls” would have featured even more prominently than we’ve used it.

@Tat: I can’t believe they thought that was prize-worthy, even if it was original. Your average teenager of a moderate artistic bent could do as well.

  12. Bruce A Munro Says:

@GSS ex-noob: yes, but this was 19 years ago: a Huge Canvas rather than a digital image on Deviantart. Back in 2000 you had to _work_ for your pseudo-artsy SF images!

It’s the Alan Partridge Project doing a concept album entitled ‘Eggs’.

The original idea for that Capaldi episode where the moon turned out to be an egg.

Regarded as way too scary; hiding behind the sofa wouldn’t have saved the kiddies. One moon and a fantastic creature was settled on.
