Ryan comments: Well, I meant to send this one for the hatred of flying black balls comment.

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! The Captain was Mr Snuffleupagus – the spaceship faced doom.

  2. THX 1139 Says:

Incidentally – 1986? Is that date not about twenty years out?

  3. A. R. Yngve Says:

    “And NO SINGING!”

Keeping my comment opera related I say this cover depicts my reaction to Godfather III.

The wrap around cover on EBAY, which does not depict my reaction to Godfather III.

  5. THX 1139 Says:

All I remember about Godfather Part III was noticing what a lot of fillings Al Pacino had in his silent scream at the end.

Anyway, I note the load of balls is a common factor in both these covers, @fred.

  6. JuanPaul Says:

It looks like the artist has reused the canvas a few times.

  7. Ryan Says:

Since I own this copy, I can tell you that the cover accurately depicts the contents of the book.

  8. Bruce A Munro Says:

“In a heartening show of solidarity, bird-men and bald-men join forces to impotently shake their hands at hovering spaceship.”

The perspective on that spaceship looks…doubtful.

  9. Francis Boyle Says:

In Space no one can hear you singing Nessun Dorma. Which is just as well as archaeopteryx was not known for it’s fine tenor voice.

  10. B. Chiclitz Says:

I don’t know if this is an attempt at expressive brushwork, but the background texture makes me think all of these figures, including the spaceship, are stuck inside a cave.

  11. GSS ex-noob Says:

@BC: Archaeopteryx and the baldies (new band name) were just hanging around in their cave practicing their latest songs when a multi-balled drone buzzed in and interrupted them.

There’s another sentence I’d never have imagined myself writing before GSS.

@fred: I like that limited edition cover. Classy.

I don’t recall any reaction to Godfather III. Maybe I’ve never seen it.

    @Ryan: yikes!

  12. THX 1139 Says:

@GSS x-n: You’re in for a treat, Sofia thoroughly deserved her Oscar.

  13. B. Chiclitz Says:

@THX—That is really funny. GSS for dry wit of the week!

  14. Anti-Sceptic Says:

    C’mooon seven!
