Ryan Art Direction: “Yeah, it’s another Van Vogt. Let’s see, paint up a haggard floozy, Evil Blue Buddha, and the guy from the cover of the first Enigma album. Also make sure none of the furniture has any visible means of support.”

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! Lame of Thrones? (how many “throne” covers are there on this site, anyway?)

  2. fred Says:

    I predict someone in this book utters the phrase ‘Ohhhhhhhhh…SUNS, not sons.’

    Thanks are due for the modesty leg-cross, and perhaps the arm placement as well.

    Nobody seems to have any means of support. Are they all holograms? Hooded figure is apparently a ghost, baldy is on a throne which floats above a vector graphics base, and you can’t see the feet or most of the left arm of bored floozy. None of them are looking in the same direction.

    If they are all holograms, this is a game nobody wants to play, missing suns or not.

    @TagW: how’s about “arms akimbo”? for her? Or at least “arm”.

    @JP: what doesn’t?

    Man, Dr. Manhattan has really let himself go.

    It’s a story collection, so the three weirdos aren’t necessarily even in the same story (that being said, I read this when it had the title “The Book of Van Vogt”, and I can’t really recall a blue evil Buddha. But that was a while ago).

    A gypsy and a monk walk into an ice cream parlor. The monk asks, “Can you make a Buddha float?”

    Losing one sun is pretty irresponsible, but fifty? Sounds like gross malfeasance to me….

  12. Bruce A Munro Says:

    @Hammy: “Can you at least remember which galaxy you were in when you last had them?”

    @Bruce (prev.): Oh, I get it. It’s the spaaaaaaace version of this song….
