Cycling with the StarsClick for larger image

Ryan Comments: The is good, there is bad, and if you can stand it, there is nude wind tricycling in space.

You might remember this from here.

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! 1. THX 1139 Says:

That has to be a Norwegian flag.

  2. Bruce A Munro Says:

Space travel really isn’t that hard, as long as you know where the bike paths are.

  3. Francis Boyle Says:

Well this being a book by the author of The Iron Dream I’m assuming that the “something more” is a some sort of swastika on the sail. (You know she’s a Nazi – just look at those boots.)

  4. fred Says:

Fun but damn I wish he did it just for today fact. Slim Whitman never did a cover version of ‘Bicycle Race’.

  5. Max Bathroom Says:

    @Francis
Sadly, Songs From The Stars is played pretty straight without any satirical Nazis or Aryan superheroes, so she’s probably just be wearing those boots because she’s a Nancy Sinatra fan.

  6. THX 1139 Says:

Her suntan’s going to look a bit odd.

  7. Dave Van Domelen Says:

    Plastic Man cameo.

  8. MakkaPakka Says:

Not credible… the guy would need to run aft of the mast, and I’d like to see her gybe…I never flew the spinnaker without crew.

  9. JuanPaul Says:

Her hair tells me that she is somehow going faster than the wind that is pushing her vehicle.

  10. Bibliomancer Says:

Ouch. She’s going to wish she had rode a girl’s bike.

  11. B. Chiclitz Says:

Looks like her elbows are welded together.

  12. GSS ex-noob Says:

Spinrad did like the young ladies (he once hit on his then-wife’s teen sister) and often wrote about sex, but I don’t recall orbital recumbent tricycles pedaled by lasses in nowt but jackboots in any of his works.

Though I’m sure this is *someone’s* exact kink, wind in 2 directions and all.

@Dave Van D: GSS! Perfectly in character.

  13. Bruce A Munro Says:

@GSS ex-noob: I think she’s wearing a (FUTURISTIC) yellow leotard, but perhaps I’m just not kinky enough.

  14. JuanPaul Says:

@ I think you are correct. Her hands and face show a realistic skin color and the rest is definitely yellow. How boring

  15. GSS ex-noob Says:

@Bruce: I think you’re right. It would make more sense with the cycle and the boot. As much as there being wind and thus air for her to breathe in orbit. Maybe she’s just doing Future Peloton with a space themed background.

I bet she was starkers in the original idea, though.

  16. A. R. Yngve Says:

Ha ha! We in Sweden laugh at thøse pathetic Nørwegian wind-pøwered space ships! Everyøne knøws that Møøse-pøwer is the way øf the future!
