Gahhh! I should have never licked that battery!Click for full image

Well magic is purple. Fact! So we are sorted for that but we need a way of getting magic’s amazing power across to people. I know, electricity… and some guy in obvious pain as he weaves his supernatural element. We all know that when you meddle with the supernatural all you get is that burning sensation of being electrocuted.

Thanks to CSA!

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! Feels so good!Good Show Sir! (Average: 7.86 out of 10)

Now I guess this guy just rubbed his hands on his wool jumper for about 10 minutes then touched a metal railing. Ouch!

  2. CSA Says:

I actually think he’s been given the once in a lifetime chance to to use NIcola Tesla’s Toilet. And the expression on his face is half constipation and half dismay because he knows that never again will taking a dump be as awesome as this one time in a Tesla cage

  3. little mi Says:

You know I’m not sure that anything can really be added to CSA’s comment.

  4. Simon Says:

Magic is NOT purple and sparky. Least its not anymore. Anyone who has seen the Brent Weeks covers or indeed our very own new covers for Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn trilogy KNOWS that magic is like (magical) blue pipe smoke, floating in the still air of a mighty mage’s study.

    See! Fantasy can evolve.

  5. SI Says:

I think Little Mi has said it right. CSA you sicken me, you sicken me.

    Ohhhh blue pipe smoke.

Fantasy evolve? Something like…. Techno Dragons. Wow, I now know my life’s calling.

  6. Simon Says:

    Techno-Cyber-Dragons if you please.

Steam powered Techno-Cyber-Dragons in point of fact.

  7. little mi Says:

    Steam powered Techno-Cyber-Dragons?!

Wow, that really is the future!

  8. Adam Roberts Says:

‘Gwen’s Cat’s-Cradle wool was possessed by the devil …’

  9. JustinLeego Says:

I wouldn’t have guessed it from the cover, but the artist Dave Eastbury is now very accomplished and has two comic strips in The Beano! Good times!

  10. SI Says:

Steam powered Techno-Cyber-Dragons… excellent. Everything always has to be steam powered, or held in place with a series of magnets. I’ll get both in there.

Just need a basic storyline, fame awaits!

  11. CSA Says:

I think the fuel that boils the water for the steam should be some sort of magic crystal too.

  12. SI Says:

Ohh interesting twist. But what if we twist that and the magic crystal is actually made from, you guessed it, people.

  13. CSA Says:

Very nice, but what if (and bare with me here)… in the very last chapter we reveal that the “people” are actually evil aliens in disguise… But not just any aliens, they’re Dragon aliens…. hence the People-powered-crystal-powered-Steam powered Techno-Cyber-Dragons are actually feeding off their alien ancestors…. what a twist! we’re gonna be millionaires!

  14. SI Says:

What’s all this ‘we’ crap 😛

    Mu hahahahahaha!

  15. A.R.Yngve Says:

The Emperor, in the Imperial Bathroom on a Monday morning, applies after-shave — but forgets to turn the Dark Side off first…

  16. Tom Noir Says:

“Do we really have to refer to him as ‘The Supernatural John G. Jones’??”

“Shh! His grief counselor says to just go along with it!”

  17. A.R.Yngve Says:

“Don’t do what this man did. Never try to change your iPhone battery on your own. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!”

  18. anon Says:

What is “John.” an abbreviation for?

  19. DaveM Says:

The “realistic physics” mod for Skyrim was always unpopular with mage characters.

  20. A.R.Yngve Says:

“John. ” is of course an abbreviation of “Johnson”. But alas, this is too feeble a pun to use on Good Show Sir… the shame, the shame!

  21. GSS noob Says:

Chap in the picture looks a bit like the lamentably late Supernatural David R. Jones (yes it’s been a year, we still miss him) having some sort of electrical mishap on stage due to dodgy/drugged roadies. Or perhaps a problem during the making of “The Prestige”?

I understand there’s a tag for him? she hinted heavily @Tag Wizard.

  22. classicOz Says:

    Never break a plasma ball

  23. Cygnia Says:

If this is the same book I’m thinking of, there was an alternate cover of just window blinds….

  24. Tag Wizard Says:

@Cygnia – Do you mean this one:

    https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1328419604l/4314435.jpg

    Welcome to Good Show Sir!

  25. Cygnia Says:

@Tag Wizard — The very same!

  26. GSS ex-noob Says:

@Cygnia: John. lost his full stop to the window blinds. Also anything really supernatural, as I’ve never had window blinds that were any more along the “evil” scale than “frustrating tangles”. You’ve added good info on your first comment — Good Show!

@TW: Still no Bowie tag? sigh

  27. JJYoyo Says:

@GSSxN: I don’t really see the Thin White Duke resemblance, myself. Mr Jones had much better teeth IIRC. To me it looks more like Big Bad Orange Hair in hell. Which is a comforting Sunday thought.
However your observation of John.‘s losing his punctuation is, er, spot on.

  28. GSS ex-noob Says:

@JJYoyo: Mr. Jones originally had teeth like that, till he made enough money to overcome being an Englishman born right after the war.

However, your image is very cheering.

    (still no tag)
