Modified from this cover into today’s limited edition Glass and Amber cover. Any tag for this kind? Please recycle?

Remember, kids, joining a collective entity is rarely as much fun as you think!

The photo-bombing woman in front looks rather smug, like she’s thinking “unlike _some_ people, I sprayed with monster repellant this morning!”

@fred: does this book even _have_ tentacled abominations?

  3. A. R. Yngve Says:

She be like, “Unspeakable abominations always pop up in your dankest basement, amirite?”

  4. THX 1139 Says:

The David Hasselhoff cookery book we never knew we wanted.

  5. JuanPaul Says:

Brings new meaning to the word “polyamorous”.

  6. Francis Boyle Says:

Pictured: future mother trying not to be judgemental after discovering her son’s holo porn stash.

  7. B. Chiclitz Says:

“So, Mrs. Smith, this is what your little Bobby created when you gave him that can of Play-Dohâ„¢?”

    “Yes, Doctor.”

“Well, I think we have a problem here.”

  8. Tor Mented Says:

Cherryh: “If anyone sees any reason that these two … or three … or … I lost count, but if anyone sees any reason that clusterfark over there should not be united … “

  9. Bruce A Munro Says:

    @JuanPaul: polyamorous, polymorphous, and perverted.

  10. GSS ex-noob Says:

@fred: You’re correct — the artist recycled his own work and then slapped a space station and a not-very-accurate portrait of the author on this limited-run collection. (Seriously; I’ve met the woman more than once over the decades and I’d never have recognized her from this.)

@Bruce: AFAIK, no tentacled abominations in this work. I’ve read all these stories (in a later collection) and don’t recall any.

I am actually angry at this cover. Neither CJ nor the works therein deserve this much badness. And being as it was a special signed and numbered edition, it would have cost a lot.

As for me, I got all the fiction and more besides in a regular old paperback for cheap just a few years later.

  11. Stephen Daugherty Says:

“Yeah, it’s screwed up, but did you see what happened with the afterparty? phweeeeeww!

  12. Ryan Says:

I am not sure that such an illustration is really worthy of being recycled onto a second cover.

    Once was probably enough.
