Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! Less dressage and more mess-age.

  2. fred Says:

Non ting on you crazy crumpled ball of tin foil.

  3. THX 1139 Says:

Even the horse from The Godfather gets its own spin-off these days.

  4. Cornelius Says:

She likes to be the centaur of attention.

  5. Tor Mented Says:

Is centaur woman carrying a purse under her left arm? You’d think she’d opt for saddle bags, though maybe Gucci doesn’t make those.
I wonder if her horseshoes are by Jimmy Choo.

  6. JuanPaul Says:

The rider’s feet; we’ve seen this before. Does the UAI not teach thier students the role feet typically play in horseback riding?

  7. Ryan Says:

So the diamond on the center-right is the stone of wisdom?

  8. Tat Wood Says:

I can imagine Florence the Machine covering the theme from ‘White Horses’; I can imagine a duet with Iggy Azalea. Not both at once, though.

  9. Bruce A Munro Says:

A fine example of the “fuck it, that’s good enough” school of fantasy art.

  10. B. Chiclitz Says:

The rider looks like one of those paintings of children before the concept of childhood was invented. Like some tiny, frightening adult face on a small body. And the woman Centaur! is looking way too confident, almost on the edge of smug. Just wait until that rider tries to steer her by pulling her hair.

  11. fred Says:

The author likes horses and awards. Lots of awards.

  12. GSS ex-noob Says:

@BC: The rider really does. Odd since the author is so big on kids’ books.

@fred: Horses. Maaaagick. Useless awards that you can get easily or pay for. Purpleness.

  13. Hammy Says:

Well, it’s apparent that the Stone of Wisdom never struck the Unknown Artist….

@fred#11 – Shurikens of (self) Approval

OK, I will try to say something nice for a change – no sarcasm, no quips, no put-downs, no parodies, no wordplay.

    [Thinks hard]

    [Studies cover for several minutes]

    [Deep breath]

The front page can’t be confused with the back page.

  16. Emster Says:

Wait… This is Book 4 in a series? What are the 3 previous stones? Gall stone? Kidney Stone? Stone inna bottom of my shoe?
