Cyclops! Winged monkeys! Pony tail! This cover has everything. Except good taste.

UPS? Who’d have thought they delivered via flying carpet!

“Sim sala bim and – bloody hell, these things are difficult to steer!” Nice day for it, though.

Dungeons not included.

Hmm. Looks like my country’s war on terror has managed to reduce the funds available for Al Qaeda training missions.

@TW: a quick look in the Wikipaedia shows that the dragons have been held off of the cover.
It says, ‘Costikyan lives in New York City near his three daughters’. Presumably, he can visit one or more if he has movement points left over. đ

Is it really a good idea to let the guy with no depth perception drive the flying carpet??
September 13th, 2013 at 2:22 pm
Presumably once these two runaway flying carpets collide only the winged-monkey drivers can fly to a safe landing.

Ponytail Man seems to be the one who has a problem. He appears to be the only one affected by gravity.
September 13th, 2013 at 6:20 pm
They all look like randomly posed action figures.

Ha Ha! Love it! I presume that there is some sort of force field keeping the people on the father-away carpet upright. Otherwise “sword-man posing menacingly for no reason” and “man cheering jubilantly for no reason” are in serious trouble.
September 14th, 2013 at 4:50 am
Those flying carpets need sword racks. Also, is that a mugging in progress on the left-hand carpet?
September 14th, 2013 at 6:28 am
Speaking of “depth perception” @Tom NoirââŹâthe use of perspective is so clumsy on this cover. Cyclops and Ponytail Man are holding an invisible support pole that goes right through the monkey’s head, the rear carpet appears to be in the act of crashing into the dome, and there’s nothing at all behind those mountains, though from our line of sight there should be more world back there. A worthy cover indeed!

The people and flying carpets are actually decals stuck on a window with a view of a Middle Eastern city. The decals weren’t centered properly which explains why the people look like they are about to fall to their deaths.

Also, looking at this cover I have a strong sense that the cyclops is actually named ‘David’.

Take it away, Kool and the Gang! (*sings*( Ups and sor-cer-y I said a ups-and-sorcery … How you gonna do it if you really don’t want to dance. By standing on the wall. Get your back up off the wall. Ups and sor-cer-y I said a ups-and-sorcery)
September 15th, 2013 at 8:04 pm
Or:
“Come on, vogue! Let your cyclops move to the music…”
September 20th, 2013 at 4:19 am
Could be book one of:
Cups and Sorcer (makes sense to me)
Ups and Sorcer
Ups and Sorcery
Cups and Sorcery

There appears to be incredibly stiff competition among mosques in the city they’re flying over. There’s not just one on every corner… the city seems to consist exclusively of mosques.

Hang on.. the guy in the green smock, middle of the second carpet… that’s Andre the Giant from ‘The Princess Bride’. So imagine how big the rest of his posse must be.
September 21st, 2013 at 12:12 am
@Adam Roberts: er, that’s the Gap Band. Lucky they didn’t do the rowing-boat dance on the carpets.

This cover just makes me smile.

Look at the little dude in green shirt trying to pull the ponytailed guy off his carpet. That’s just rude!
