Book… or Yma Sumac LP cover?

I share the cat’s bewilderment.

I thought ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ was published much later than 1954.

Well this cover is sure a hot mess. There’d better be a story about a pair of scissors in this book.

Robert Helpmann as Treebeard.

I might start lobbying for an “interpretative dance” tag.

I know pedantry is so passé on the internet (?) but that’s not a spider if it has twelve legs. It’s also not a spider if it has a cat head and a frog head, but that’s by the by.

@THX – Whoa! Looks like GSS now has a resident arachnologist.

It’s the new meme: “WTFcats”.

@THX 1139: could be this guy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baal_(demon) , although he seems to have left his human head at home. Perhaps Satan in the back is looking for him?
The baby clearly has gotten himself all tangled up in the Line to Tomorrow, and the scissors [1] are there to cut him loose. The Nymph seems horrified to see Satan (perhaps her ex?) and the little tree dudes from Princess Mononoke are presumably hanging out with her. And as @Richard Decker said, the floating cat head looks like it doesn’t want to be there.
[1] Possibly wielded telekinetically by the little alien in back of Baal.

@Bruce: I knew someone would make sense of this. Are you a scientist, or do you play one on television?

@daard23—either that or an “interpretive cat” tag.

Is the cat’s name Mr. Hooks? That would be cute.

@THX 1139: just a man with a vast store of trivial knowledge.

That cat absolutely has the “What has been seen cannot be unseen” look on its face, as well it should.
The little Mononoke dudes really miss their own forest. Even with wolf gods, shapeshifting toxic things, and guns, it’s friendlier than this cover.
@JP: It would be an excellent name for a cat.

Okay, everyone, couldja please make one orderly line to tomorrow, no butting in front of anyone else, no matter how cute you are… good grief, look at the mess you are tracking! When we get to tomorrow, please wipe your feet on the mat before entering.
