I actually had this book back in the day. It wasn’t very good. No dancing as depicted on the cover and the main character was more of a tactless amazon than the graceful gal that’s depicted. The only part I can remember about the plot is that at one point the amazon is pissed she has to ride in her noble family’s fancy coach to the capitol.
@Tracy: the nearest library copy is 10 miles off, but this summary doesn’t make it sound as if she’s a noblewoman or has a coach to complain about…
God stalk. In the first book of the Kencyrath, Jame, a young woman missing her memories, struggles out of the haunted wastes into Tai-tastigon, the old, corrupt, rich and god-infested city between the mountains and the lost lands of the Kencyrath. Jame’s struggle to regain her strength, her memories, and the resources to travel to join her people, the Kencyrath, drag her into several relationships, earning affection, respect, bitter hatred and, as always, haunting memories of friends and enemies dead in her wake.

Well, it’s a much more faithful depiction of the main character than this one:

You can dance, you can jive
Having the time of your life, ooh
See that girl, watch that scene
Dig in the Dancing Queen
@Juan Paul: there’s a real “Oh God, I’m on a Baen cover, aren’t I?” expression.

Tell Mariano that Frank Frazetta called. He wants his columns back.

There are some things you can’t cover up
With lipstick and powder
Thought I heard you mention my name
Can’t you talk any louder?
Don’t come any closer
Don’t come any nearer
My vision of you
Can’t come any clearer
Oh I just want to hear gods talk

@THX: maybe it’s a Stevie Nicks solo album, thus no penguin? Or the penguin is in the Satan costume?

God Stalk: the long awaited sequel to Godspell. Darker and edgier yet somehow with music by Stevie Nicks.

I’ll weigh in on the quality of the book:
It was good, if a little meandering. Cool world building. The climax wasn’t all that pronounced. I do intend to read the next book in the series.
