  1. Bruce A Munro Says:

He wielded the power of the cosmic lollipop.

  2. Cornelius Says:

Ringo thought his new drumstick was overpriced.

  3. Tor Mented Says:

Does anyone else see a giant pig sniffing a flower?

  4. Max Bathroom Says:

    @Tor Mented
Now that you’ve said it, I can’t not see that…

  5. fred Says:

In 20 years this will be Thor in the MCU.

  6. Bibliomancer Says:

Don’t you just hate when you drop your lollipop and it gets all covered with hairs?

  7. GSS ex-noob Says:

Anome. The opposite of Nome, Alaska? squints at murky art Yeah, I buy that.

He looks to be in peril from the gravitational pull of all those other planets. Unless he’s in an amusement park, happy to have his lollipop on the outing. Orange Durdane World is his favorite!

@Tor: No. It looks like a seal to me.

GSS to Bruce, Cornelius, and Bibliomancer (welcome back!)

  8. JJYoyo Says:

    @fred: GSS!

@GSSxN: Big handed beardo looks bored. Maybe it’s The Anomie?

@GSSxN @Tor: it looks like a giant red Schmoo from L’il Amber, or maybe… a Shoggoth from HP Lovecraft. That makes this book…

The NOME That Came to Alaska.

  9. Bruce A Munro Says:

@Bibliomancer: that’s why you should be careful not to drop your lollipop, especially not in an amusement park featuring giant pigs.

Looking at the larger picture, I see some more details: is that some sort of malformed giant striking a pose with an outflung arm and cape in the bottom hand corner, presumably to impress the more normal-sized minions crowding around him? Perhaps the anomtagonist.

Also, are those buildings to the left, or giant balloons waiting to be twisted into giant animals? Or perhaps overinflated giant condoms…

  10. fred Says:

I hope that golden collar is flexiable, otherwise…..

  11. GSS ex-noob Says:

@Bruce: I’m sticking with the amusement park idea and going with giant balloon animals.

    Figure on right has bigarmitis.

@JJYoyo: GSS! for the pun, callback, and particularly the Shmoo. I change my vote from seal to Shmoo — it was a happy and useful critter, and as a cartoon, suitable for the amusement park.

@fred: Amusement park. So the collar is safe.

  12. Emster Says:

@Tor: is Shmoopig sniffing the flower, or trying to blow the seed pods everywhere?

@Bruce: yep, something weird goinig on in bottom right corner. Maybe one of those tall blowup things with the wavey arms that they use to attract attention at used car lots and field concerts?

@JJYoyo: If I squint/tilt the trifocals just so, I see over in the gumdrop bolders a pointy red hat of

The Travelling GNOME that Came to Alaska

  13. Hammy Says:

“Dammit, Jesus, quit dragging that Schmoo by the nose!”

  14. JJYoyo Says:

@Emster: If you’re right and that’s a traveling gnome, then the title is not Anome or Anomie but Amelie, and boy has Audrey Tautou let herself go.

  15. Tor Mented Says:

@Emster: I would say it blows … big time.

  16. GSS ex-noob Says:

@Emster: Shmoopig is about to eat it, I think.

Agreed that down right is a wacky waving blow up.

How about The Roaming GNOME that came to NOME?

  17. Emster Says:

@GSS xn: Ome Hat Trick! GSS!

  18. JJYoyo Says:

@GSSxN: 🎶 “The Roaming Gnome calls Nome, Alaska home”🎵
“By George I think she’s got it!… now what does that gnome do?”
    🎶”He roams! He roams!🎵”
“And where does that gnome roam?”
    (8va)🎶”In Nome! In Nome!”🎵
Etc… with apologies to Rex, Audrey and Marnie

  19. GSS ex-noob Says:

@Emster: Gosh, a hat trick is quite an honor from a Canadian! Thanks.

    @JJYoyo: GSS! Loverly.
