Lips! LIPS! Does anyone here have lips?! GWAD!Click for full image

Art Direction: Come on, the concept is so straight forward! Like hands growing other hands sorta like flowers, while one plays a tiny trumpet. What? No I went off my medication because it was making my eyes feel furry.

It’s like Roy Castle’s fever dream! But how do they play it? Let’s give them a big hand for effort.

  2. A.R.Yngve Says:

The puns practically write themselves for this one, but please don’t let them get out of ha…

I hope Lloyd Biggle senior is proud of his boy.

  4. Brian B. Says:

    @ A.R. Yngve

Hey now let’s not start pointing fingers…

  5. Brendan Podger Says:

The trumpet should be a violin.

  6. GullyFoyle Says:

    TY Brendan for …digitizing…that cover.

  7. SI Says:

Watch out GullyFoyle you might get a knuckle sandwich.

Man I am terrible at puns… was that even a pun?

The other hands in the back must be rocking out! They’re punching the air!

    The Amazon.Com reviews sound good.

Maybe that’s supposed to be a digital trumpet?

  9. Justin Leego Says:

No, those ones represent the Loyalists.

  10. Justin Leego Says:

Heh. That was in response to SI.

    The trumpet represents Margaret Thatcher.

  11. Phil Says:

The artist seems to have misread the title. He has painted the still voice of SMALL TRUMPETS.

  12. Adam Roberts Says:

And he hasn’t painted the still! Since the book is (I assume) about distilling illegal hooch, that’s a major omission.

Still, he (she?) has done a good job otherwise. Let’s give him/her a big hand!

  13. Anita Says:

My first thought is that this planet must be where Thing from the Addams family came from.

  14. NGpm Says:

At first I wondered how it could play a trumpet, but I see that it has it well in hand. I bet it just nails the solo, as long as it doesn’t knuckle under.

  15. SI Says:

    Gah!!!! Pun overload!!

Justin> The metaphor of MT as a trumpet sends shivers down my spine. Thanks! But yes I would enjoy seeing the ole Ulster red hand replaced with one of these! haha

  16. Herm Says:

I didn’t even notice these were hands at first. I thought they were straight ripoffs of Triffids.

Style makes me think of Partick Woodroffe:

It’s a deleted scene from Yellow Submarine.

I’ve installed the extension that replaces photos of D. Trump with photos of kittens.* (Because I can’t stay off the intarwebs for the next 4-8 years.)

It twigged to this one, a false positive.

When I clicked through to the actual cover, I was really glad to have gotten the wee cats instead.

IIRC, this was a pretty good book — I had it in a bland cover which didn’t scare people.
