I thought the encircled eagle’s head on his chest was a new candidate for the role of modesty sheep (or modesty C.S.Lewis)… and would be better deployed masking the lady’s devil’s dumplings and/or gender-inappropriate armour genitals.
Oh foo, did I type the artist’s name as “Ramos”? Sorry about that. “Cover illustration by Romas” is what it said in the publication info. I’m guessing it’s by Romas Kukalis who did the cover art recently featured for “Death Trek”.
@David Cowie: Good catch, yes, same edition of Young Miles as featured the other day. And I think I shot this later on the day when that was posted here. That shelf location chosen because I could shoot a cover and not get too much reflected glare from the ceiling lights.
Unless the nipples on that armor is so that she can distract the evil wizard’s army of teenage boys long enough to dispatch them, I’m guessing it’s due to someone objecting to allowing actual bared breasts on the cover.
The old guy in the chair has cast a spell suddenly reducing every metal object to two-thirds its size, including all her copper garments and the handle of his plastic axe
JoaT@16: A good guess. Even more than most paperback houses of the time, Pinnacle’s market was grocery stores, drug stores and newsstands; anything requiring sheeping was probably right out.
@Jerk of All Trades: Seems like it, judging by the way her “clothing” looks. And on TOP of that, she’s clearly either dancing badly or posing for a fashion shoot.
The guy does not seem to have a very good-quality battle axe.
‘The Mighty Conan’…is this because Conan the Barbarian is copyrighted, and you can’t say which Conan it was? Like, how all of the advertisers talk about ‘The Big Game’ rather than The Super Bowl?
Or perhaps this is Arthur Conan Doyle, and Professor Challenger has had an action-oriented update?

I maybe… and I have to admit… maybe… looking at little too closely at this image. BUT… does she have a willy on her underwear armour garments?

Never mind the lady’s armour garments, the snake looks like it’s emerging from the sorcerer creeping up behind them. If you know what I mean.

LOVE the tongue! When they scream on the Simpsons, their tongues always waggle, but this is MILES beyond that!
I also think it’s cute that He and She are wearing matching colours today.

According to St. Google of the Internets, there was a second book in this series after all. Trail of Peril, it’s called.

That snake must be compensation for something. The bloke looks somewhat under-endowed in the crotch region.
But maybe that’s a good thing, given that pointy, sharp-edged piece of armour covering his underbelly.

Two gingy’s in matching garb on one cover. There isn’t some Siegmund/Sieglinde kink going on in this story is there?

They both appear to be wearing blue jeans under their armor. Sensible choice if you ask me.

She better watch out. It’s bad enough to stand in the way of somebody’s backswing on the golf course.
October 30th, 2012 at 5:34 pm
@ Jaouad #5: could there be a connection between His pointy belly armour and the red mark around his crotch?
And wouldn’t it be wonderful if the edition of YOUNG MILES in the background is the same as the one we had the other day?

Alternate blurbs:
“His elongated left arm made his axe the most feared in the world!”
“Heroic fantasy in the tradition of 16th-century paintings!”
“He fights evil and wears advertisements on his chest!”
“In the war on sorcery, nipple armor was the ultimate weapon!”

Help me out here… what’s the name of the dance that lady on the cover is doing?

@A.R. Yngve
Looks like a variation on the classic “Goddammit, I thought it was just going to be a fart” Uncomfortable Exit Shuffle.

Ross Anton Coe. Roscoe for short.
In other news, Google tells me that Roscoe’s is a gay bar in Chicago.

@David Cowie: Well, I thought there was something peculiar about this place! Great wifi, though. *pays and leaves*

Woman in WTF leather is too, since they’re both wearing blue.
It does explain the rivalry.
