This would make a great cover for Fear and Loathing in Ancient Egypt were there to be such a book. For any other book, not so much.

‘Lifeforce’ sun tan lotion. Get a tan and lose weight at the same time.

Honestly, there are huge swathes of late 60s and 70s science fiction that I never read purely because of the off-putting and dumba$$ covers like this one.

Who (except for serious Vogt fans in 1976 who are also completists) would look at this book and think, “Yeah, I need to spend two bucks on this!”

Lots of good stories, hidden forever from readers by the fecal montages featured on the front.

Someone misunderstood the term ‘beach body’.

I don’t recall a scene like this in any of van Vogt’s books. So it’s yet another example of the stuff what put @Ryan off SF in his younger years.

@Francis: We also would have accepted it as a cover for a book titled “Snowdrift Mummy Massacre”.

A hilarious mix-up by the printer led to this book release… in the same week as the book THE SOCIOLOGY OF MODERN ART IN BRITAIN was released with a Chris Foss cover.

@ARY: And nobody noticed much in either case.
