“AH… its the new Volkswagen parade float!”

    +1 topical! w00t!

  4. fred Says:

This implies the existence of a steam powered angel, which would make for a way more awesome cover. Demon kaiju vs a 300 ft tall mecha-steampunk-Gabriel.

Behind the scenes at the new live-action Fantasia remake.

Electric Angel vs cardboard Devil. A bit one-sided.

(The face of the demon is oddly like Fish from Marillion).

So, you like Legos, do you? Well, take that!. Ya-ha-ha-ha-ha . . . .

  8. B. Chiclitz Says:

Maybe it’s me, but I cannot process the arrangement of limbs on this creature. Two fore-claws projecting from the wings, one foreleg (with what appears to be a knee at the shoulder), one hind leg on the opposite side, rear? And what about the tail? Asymmetric body plan? Too much “electric” in the electric kool-aid?

  9. Bibliomancer Says:

In an attempt to jump start the Christmas shopping season, Macy’s has moved up its Thanksgiving parade to Halloween.

To the Land of the Electric Angel, he was ha-Shatan, the Adversary, Abbadon, Lord of the Pit, the Beast, Leviathan and Behemoth. But to me , he was Charlie, and he was the only man I ever really loved.

Don’t know if anyone here is on Reddit but I’ve setup a subreddit to feature GSS covers and any other covers redditors may submit: https://www.reddit.com/r/badscificovers

  12. Anna T. Says:

@Bibliomancer: No, it’s not the Macy’s parade. They’re filming a giant, overblown, overbudgeted monster movie that will probably make millions, but certainly not out of any artistic integrity.

Do Gargantuan Satan Puppets Dream of Electric Angels?

  14. Dead Stuff With Big Teeth Says:

Do you suppose that the three UFOs on his arms were that big when he was born? Or did they grow along with him as he grew up, attended school, etc.?

  15. Perry Armstrong Says:

Credit where it’s due. This artist, circa 1976, pretty accurately predicted the current scourge of multiple drones holding up ugly marionettes.

Nyahhnh . . . it just clicked into place, the body plan I couldn’t see before. Like an optical illusion, what I thought was a shoulder is a hip. Sorry about the inane post. I am paying the price, though, since now it looks even worse.

    Suspended from flying avocado halves

  19. Scott B Says:

The anatomy is kind of awkward to see, what with the head and wings being fairly straight-on to the reader, but the body twisted to the left maybe 70 degrees. Even given that, the thighs look weird to me — his left thigh seems significantly longer, more human-like while the right seems more dinosaurish. Maaaaybe if the right one is foreshortened by being pointed right at us…? I’m still not totally sure about it.

  20. B. Chiclitz Says:

@Scott B—glad to see I am not the only one who has trouble just processing this visual. I don’t think it’s intentional on the “artist’s” part, but the angles and proportions are right in the optical illusion pocket, at least to my myopic eyes. I really thought that right “leg” was a down-thrust arm at first sight.

    Must be the avocados.

A new cover by the artist motivated through Patrón of the Shots.

This is what the land of the electric angel looks like. Thank you, Japan Inc., for clearing that one up.

  23. B. Chiclitz Says:

@DSWithBT—thanks. I watched the whole thing just waiting for the meteor to smash into the stage, but it never did. 3′ 16″ gone for good. ☺️
