Elisabeth Comments: I was hoping this was an adult colouring book.

Published 1969

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. 500 pages! Truly these are the things on the doorstep.

  2. Ray P Says:

    “Tonight on R’lyeh’s Got Talent.”

  3. Francis Boyle Says:

    You have to admit hat the tie-dye rainbow colours on the title text add a certain je ne sais quoi to the cover. Wait a minute, what I meant to say is, je ne sais quoi the fuck.

  4. Paul Says:

    “Another Lovecraft collection? I really can’t be bothered. Here. This’ll do. Something my 14 year old doodled on his exercise book at school. Nice Horso-bat-adile, son.”

  5. fred Says:

    Pledge night at good ol’ Miskatonic U.

  6. JuanPaul Says:

    DM: You are face to face with a horde of lovecraftian oddities. One of them has boobs, and one has a bunch of dicks on its head.

    Wizard: I cast my Magic Missle at the boobs one.

    Warrior: I throw my gladiator net over the dicks one. That guy is coming home with me.

    Cleric: I feel dirty. I’m just going to grab another slice of pizza and watch how this plays out.

  7. Lillie Awesome Says:

    That cover had better be black velvet, or no sale.

  8. Bruce A Munro Says:

    “Look out! It’s a skeleton! And it has a knife!”

  9. Anna T. Says:

    There are ways this cover layout would work in the service of Lovecraft. Coloured this way is not one of them.

  10. Bruce A Munro Says:

    What’s going on with boob-thing’s arm? Is it (she?) materializing from inside the tree? Starting to merge with the tree? Giving a high-five to the tree with an arm that just happens to be glowy and insubstantial-looking?

    The critter just to the left of boob-thing looks rather cartoonish, and gives the impression it’s just trying too hard. “Grrr! I’m a scary monster!”

    1969…perhaps they were trying to sell Lovecraft as trippy? The colors otherwise seem rather pointless.

  11. fred Says:

    The less I think about what could possibly be going on in the lower left the better I’ll be for the rest of the week.

  12. Tat Wood Says:

    The Space out of Colour.

  13. Bibliomancer Says:

    Looks like something I coughed up into the sink once.

  14. Tor Mented Says:

    Another posthumous collaboration. (August Derleth did the colors.)

  19. GSS ex-noob Says:

    Ran out of time on deadline before Timmy could color in the bitchin’ artwork he drew during math class?

    Ran out of budget for colored pencils?

    Ran out of good sense?

    @Lillie: Exactly. With an upgrade to day-glo markers and maybe some glow in the dark ink.

    @Tat: Heh. Yes.

    @Tor: YES!!! GSS!

  20. A.R.Yngve Says:

    It’s the new fad in adult coloring books: Losing-Your-Mind-Fulness.

  21. Bibliomancer Says:

    @B. Chiclitz – Are you going to bug Tag Wizard to add your new tag everywhere?

  22. B. Chiclitz Says:

    @B’Mancer—it would make a nice tag, wouldn’t it? I’ll wait for a consensus to grow before I start lobbying.

  23. Tag Wizard Says:

    @BM @BC – Ok. Tag added.Try to find me a second cover!

  24. B. Chilitz Says:

    @TW—yea verily dost thou deserve the appellation “Wizard.” B’Mancer is much the better researcher than I, but I will endeavor to help populate the tag.

  25. B. Chiclitz Says:

    @TW—yea verily dost thou merit the appellation “Wizard.” B’Mancer is much the better researcher than I, but I will try to populate the new tag. 😉
