  8. A. R. Yngve Says:

More like SIEGE OF THE EYE-CATCHINGLY VISIBLE.

  9. A. R. Yngve Says:

Van Vogt predicted the hypersonic missile… sort of.

  10. Francis Boyle Says:

“I just hope Elon never sees this.”

    – everyone at Tesla/SpaceX probably

  11. B. Chiclitz Says:

“Look guys, a ringer! Our team wins!”

  12. Bruce A Munro Says:

Ted’s bondage fantasies grew increasingly elaborate over time.

    “Evil had a Third Eye”

    And a second nose.

  13. Bruce A Munro Says:

Gotta add, that’s a transportation option strictly for those obsessed with upper body exercise and/or hoping for a constant expectation of plummeting to your death.

  14. Tor Mented Says:

There’s a movie called “Starcrash,” starring Caroline Munro, that is totally not a “Star Wars” rip-off. The rebels launch torpedoes at the evil empire’s enormous starship. And when the torpedoes crash through the walls of the ship, do they explode? No, they open up so that a soldier with a gun can pop out.
It sort of reminds me of this cover’s drone-delivered soldiers.

  15. A. R. Yngve Says:

    Ah, STARCRASH. 🙂
If we riffed on movies here, it would be on the list for sure.

(I saw this Italian movie as a kid, not long after seeing STAR WARS, and even at the age of 8 or 9 I thought it was bad. The only thing it had going for it was Caroline Munro.)

  16. GSS ex-noob Says:

Unseen by whom, I ask? Blind people? Men in brightly-colored uniforms clinging to small missiles are going to be visible to anyone with even a bit of vision.

I’m not sure how the metal lassos work, either. They look like plumbing thingys.

    (image-searches the intarwebs)

Hose clamps! That’s what they are, hose clamps.

Guess either Van Vogt or Valigursky was doing a bit of plumbing.

    Better strapline and title:

“Evil had a plumbing supply business”. SIEGE OF THE AIRBORNE PLUMBERS.

@Tor: I saw that on video in the early 80s. Owned by a male friend who liked Star Wars and also fancied Ms. Munro.

It is truly… whatever Italian for je ne sais quoi is. Non so cosa?

  17. Bruce A Munro Says:

Those guys aren’t the unseen. They’re besieging the unseen, which is in the background, where you don’t see it.

  18. Ryan Says:

This cover and the subsequent comments have to be in my own top ten of personal GSS enjoyment.

  19. The Blue Are Coming Says:

I can see them just fine.

    Third eye blind, maybe ?
