I don’t know why someone needed to physically prove that rose colored glasses are useless as a traffic barrier.

You’ve gone too far this time, Elton!

  3. NomadUK Says:

Unexpected results as the DVLA implement the Dukes of Hazard Perception Test.

  4. Tat Wood Says:

The Uncial font’s perfectly appropriate: Thomas Disch was asked to write a spin-off of ‘The Prisoner’ but this book’s more like watching an episode (and pre-dates the series, I think).

And well done on predicting that Stephen Rea would become a film-star.

Stephen Rea after quite a bit of dental work.

The Metaverse-Tesla merger was a smash.

Bob’s new virtual reality goggles clearly needed to be recalibrated.

My eyes felt more like the cars were crashing *into* them through my glasses. Although I do not and never have had a ‘stache.

I am forced to award a GSS! to everyone today. Top-notch comments again. Extra points to Mr. Yngve.

(Also, somehow looking up Aldiss led me to “another hour in the ball pit” memes, via astronomy… so I guess yay? Internet.)

“Mirrors fantastically the red sportscar our artist drew in high school… an extra ordinary one.”

  10. Bruce A Munro Says:

I’ve run into a variety of descriptions metaphorical and otherwise for being high as fuck, but “sportscars bursting out of one’s eyeballs” is a new one for me.

“Mirrors fantastically the violence and disruption of our times”

    Translation: terribly dated in 2022.

Beer goggles to the 20th power.

  12. JJYoyo Says:

@fred: nearly fell out of my chair at your astuteness. Yet another reason never to drink and drive.

  13. GSS ex-noob Says:

@Bruce: I have a feeling it was terribly dated even for 1985, since it was first published in 1969, and those of us old enough to remember both years know they were a whole lot different.
