  1. Francis Boyle Says:

    Well whatdja know, a precursor to my never-to-be-written Friends/Saw crossover fanfic.

  2. Cornelius Says:

    That Girl wears the curtains.

  3. Max Bathroom Says:

    Gotta love those photo covers…

  4. Tor Mented Says:

    Man, this is a total ripoff of that time that Jane Eyre landed on Gilligan’s Island.
    (And hilarity ensued.)

  5. Bruce A Munro Says:

    I am actually slightly intrigued: was this a whole series of stories about our somewhat clueless protagonist stumbling into literary works and shaking things up with her early 70s attitude?

    (Perhaps I hope for too much).

    GSS, @Tor Mented

  6. fred Says:

    Also in the cast with Marlo should be William Schallert, Burt Mustin, Clint Howard and Doug McClure.

  7. Bibliomancer Says:

    They should update this book series.
    Looking forward to “That Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”

  8. Raoul Says:

    @Cornelius – But do the curtains match her rug?

  10. Daard23 Says:

    I never thought her catchphrase “Oh Donald!” Would be so popular 50 years later.

  11. GSS ex-noob Says:

    A TV tie-in… but yeah it does sound like a horror novel. Presumably the evil is thwarted by those pesky kids and their big goofy dog.

    Donald was a histrionic dream-crushing twit, and That Girl should have dumped his bland yet controlling ass early on. C’mon, she’s a cute gal in showbiz in NYC in the early 70s! She could have done better.

    @Tor: GSS!

    @fred: Perfect.

    @daard23: Good to see you again.

  12. Max Bathroom Says:

    Would it sound catty to pointy out that “that girl” can’t possibly have gone gothic if she’s smiling a warm smile rather than pouting icily and isn’t wearing fishnets?

  13. Emster Says:

    If we’ve learned just one important lesson from this website we nerdishly adore, it’s that some GSS rules are meant to be broken, and this is a very fine example of such.

    Horrified… but just… can’t… look… away.
