It's a Penguin cover. Just slap anything together.

Charles comments: The photographer probably told the models this would end up in the next issue of Vogue.

Published 1970

You might remember this from here. And here.

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! The development of Baen orange brought together a diverse group of dedicated people who shared a common vision of the intermingling of hard science and hard partying.

Still, not HALF as weird as your regular TikTok filter.

I see Time also went to the Unknown Artist Institute.

The Productions of Time need to get a new lens; this one’s got all kinds of aberrations in it.

@Tracy: I was thinking the guy down right is a dead ringer for Goober Pyle. Seriously, look at photos of George Lindsey and tell me that isn’t him. Much more than Howard.

The guy upper right is a stock photo of some 60’s bureaucrat.

  8. Emster Says:

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh. hm. the other 3 covers didn’t clear anything up, and the wiki synopsis was really short, which makes me suspicious.

  9. GSS ex-noob Says:

@Emster: Maybe the Wiki entry is short because it had so many bad covers that no one ever read it; maybe they asked their dad who’d read it decades ago and that was all he remembered.

Goober does not look thrilled. He’s a long way from Mayberry.

    “The Productions of Time”?

Does that include those Time-Life Books that were advertised on TV when I was young?

  11. Donald Simmons Says:

The guy at lower right looks like Walter Matthau.
