I can’t help thinking that the title would make more sense as THE WORLD BETWEEN “OTHER” AND “STORIES”. Or possibly, THE WORD BETWEEN “OTHER” AND “STORIES.” The word, in that case, being “AND”.

Otherwise — someone started sculpting a giant Darth Vader out of chocolate, but it went wrong below the neck and they turned it into a sort of ghost-monster instead. The ant is horrified.

  2. SI Says:

That ant is SO going to get decapitated. Unless that’s a well trained ninja move he’s about to pull off.

The thing in the background looks like a scary puppet from a punch and judy show… writen by lovecraft…

  3. A.R.Yngve Says:

That’s no way to balance your body while holding a heavy broadsword…

I don’t know . . . it fills me with nostalgia for the days when I could still enjoy books like that but I can’t explain why. Ever get those moments in a used book store? Perhaps it is the suggestion of wonderful strangeness inside the book that eventually wore thin with finding out the contents were only as bizarre as the covers and no more, and perhaps less.

  5. Dead Stuff With Big Teeth Says:

    “Boys…ah…boys, hold off for a moment…I dropped a contact…ah…somewhere…give us a hand here, boys…it’s about a furlong across…”

Notice that all the knights and ant-men are in exactly the same poses!

  6. Phil Says:

This is another one for the panto season: BEHIND YOU!!!

  7. Kris Says:

Actually, the giant sock puppet appears to be fighting on the behalf of the knights. I looks like the two ants on the left are cowering in fear, while the knights on the right raise their swords and cheer.

  8. Dalton H. Says:

Space-Knight training school motto; Always on your toes, literally.

  9. NGpm Says:

It looks like a bad sci-fi version of West Side Story. This is the dance number featuring the fight between the Ants and the Sharks.

Leonard Bernstein at his finest for this off off off broadway production.

  10. A.R.Yngve Says:

    When you’re an Ant,
You’re a Ant all the way
    From your first larval stage
    To your last dyin’ day….

  11. David Cowie Says:

Ace Double books have two front covers.

Here is the other side of this one

  12. Alessandra Kelley Says:

It looks like they’re all, all of them, doing the Twist. I can hear Chubby Checker singing when I look at this cover.

  13. Tom Noir Says:

    Jazz hands!
