    Call me a party-pooper, but this has a sort of Blue Note/ Columbia Jazz Masters album-cover look that’s sort of appropriate for the contents. Even the font-calamity is what was in vogue for magazine-covers and posters you’d get on the tube in 1962. It’s dated, but it was exactly what the book needed when it was put out on sale.

    I believe this is the first time in my life I have seen the word “promptly” on the front cover of a sf/fantasy book. Thank you NY Herald Tribune. Upside down birds head at the top?

    Sheckley got off lightly with this cover. The first run http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sheckley-citizen-in-space-cover.jpg was so appalling I can understand how Douglas Adams was sufficiently traumatised to have repressed all memory of reading ‘Ask A Foolish Question’ or any of the others he, um, ‘homaged’.
