Elijah Comments: What’s amazing isn’t just how ugly it is (and it is very ugly), or even the fact that it’s a book by a great author (because this happens to great authors, and Bradley definitely did go downhill eventually). No, what makes this ridiculous is that it’s by a great author AND it’s a Tor book. I mean, Tor has ugly covers sometimes, but this looks self-published…
Published 1997
Many thanks to Elijah!

It’s not that bad but his arm is spasticly long

Woaaah now that you point that out cutmanmike… that arm is pretty bendy!

I can’t help but visualize how she moves farther and farther away from him — and his left arm just grows longer and LONGER….

The blurb from the review they quote isn’t even about this book.
I’m also having a tough time visualize what events the cover depicts.
“Look at these mushrooms!”, he said as she glowered back her disdain.
“Wait! your shoe is untied. Let me get that.”
“Damn it witch, when I propose to you stand still.”

Enjoying the bare tree branches over sunkissed clouds.
Kinda looks like a SPACE BRAIN!

‘The arpeggios to ‘Stairway to Heaven’ are … well, look, let me demonstrate on your arm …’

It wouldn’t be bad for fan art, but Tor are supposed to be pros. The worst thing is the cover conveys all the excitement of a clam race.

Perspective is the hardest part of painting. Especially when it comes to hair.

Not one, but two, “Mists of Avalon” reminders.

She counters his witchplight with a witchslight resulting in a witchblight of a cover.

Mr Fantastic allows his disguise to slip as he reaches to keep Double-D Woman from escaping and carrying out her nefarious plans.

Rather than trying to account for the geometry of his left arm, it’s easier to imagine that she has a third hand growing out of her bum, which is assisting her attempt to flee.

@GSS, B. Chiclitz
“Gargoyle-like aliens pulverized the bones in my arm!”
(yes, I’ve been rewatching the old “Outer Limits” show…)
As some people have said already, this is bland romantic fantasy extruded product, with nothing that’s going to really hook a reader, except maybe puberty sufferers desperate for cleavage. And is that vaguely “mystical” drawing on the tree supposed to communicate THERE’S MAGIC to the browser who reads the title as “Which Light?”

Goodreads tells us that the cover exactly matches the quality of the book, and that it was in fact ghostwritten by Rosemary Edghill, not MZB. Who for all her many sins was still turning out stuff better than this at this stage.
