That doesn’t look like a revolt at all. Perhaps ‘Robot Mid-Life Crisis’?

‘Obviously written for children, but that doesn’t quite explain why it would have to be so dull.’
Goodreads is not kind to Mr. Fisk!

In the future, everyone gets a diversity Oscar!
(Oh, and I won’t hear a word against Mr Fisk, I loved his books as a child, and I’m getting real flashbacks seeing two of his covers in a matter of two weeks.)

Those golden abs have created their own ting. Or is it an optical illusion like one of those face/vase things?

Little did people realize that Sparky McRoberts, door-to-door doorknob salesman, was already plotting the overthrow of the human race.

“A shocking look into the future world of 2016, when robots take over the workplace. Thinking machines prove more efficient at sending faxes, using typewriters and posting letters… and human workers, rendered obsolete by the robotic competition, are left with nothing to do but watching videotapes and playing Atari videogames!”

That guy looks like C-3PO’s ripped, badass cousin. Who may need to wear pants because he’s, y’know . . . anatomically correct . . . No wonder there’s a revolt going on.

‘Mommy – Dad’s been dressing as a robot again”
“Close the closet door and walk away, Jimmy.”

There are so many weird details it’s hard to know where to start. It’s so weird, for example, that he has a navel. Was the umbilical cord made of PVC pipe?
And if he has a navel, why not nipples on those weird pecs? Or pupils for his eyes?
PS @Tom Noir 10—Good Show Sir!! 😉

Navel is obviously USB recharge socket. Or vacuum cleaner hose mount point.

Has anyone considered that it is a revolt of Nicholas Fisk robots?

I think a scene where a kid finds his mom’s huge gold-colored sex toy is revolting.

“Hello human child. I am your paternal family unit returning from my designated duties for an evening of social interaction.”
‘Mom, the robot’s pretending to be Dad again!”

The kid is thinking, “Just a few more steps into my pitch black room, mwahaha…”

You could swap this cover with Naked Came the Robot and it would be more appropriate, almost.
