This is not what I expected the surveillance state would look like.

  2. fred Says:

Calling it right now, Orb will be in the next Deadpool movie as Oscar bait.

  3. Max Bathroom Says:

Since the paps hired that giant camera-headed guy, even the Kardashians have been blowing out openings.

  4. Leak Says:

@fred: not if TomSka and Ashens get to it first

  5. Tat Wood Says:

‘Published 1957’ – and yet nobody warned JFK. This could have saved us a lot of bother – and an Oliver Stone film.

It’s 1975, which is why it looks like ‘The Electric Company’.

  6. Francis Boyle Says:

Smart casual totalitarianism never looked so good.

  7. Tor Mented Says:

What do you get when you cross Godzilla with a paparazzi? Is it a papazilla or a Godzarazzi?

  8. Bruce A Munro Says:

“Just ignore him and maybe he’ll go away.”

All the covers for this book are… special, aren’t they?

This one made me think “If Zapruder had been a giant with a security camera head, we’d have had better coverage of the assassination”. OTOH that camera’s definitely black and white, not color.

The sweater must zip up at the back: no amount of elastic is going to stretch over the camera head and then snap back around the neck. Or maybe the zipper’s in that line on the neck.

@Tor: I believe the “zilla” element is the signifier, so “papazilla”. See also “bridezilla” and the comic MegaTokyo‘s “Rent-a-Zilla” (other kaiju are available).

When their head runs out of film… do they die?!?

  11. GSS Admin Says:

@Tat Wood – Good spot! You are right it was 1975, my bad typing skills!

  12. Hammy Says:

This is *not* what I expected when I heard the phrase “the revolution will be televised…”

  13. Emster Says:

    Camzilla?
What size of projector is required for the processed film?

@Leak: Thanks for the TomSka link – that’s a bit of funny I’m about to enjoy binging.

  14. GSS ex-noob Says:

I declare @Emster’s “Camzilla” to be the best word for it. And I think Camzilla is related to the “City Come A’Walking” cover.

  15. Bruce A Munro Says:

@GSS ex-noob: the anthropomorphic personification of television? Mass media? Hollywood?

  16. Leak Says:

@Emster: make sure to also check out Stuart Ashen‘s YouTube channel, while you’re at it…

  17. Emster Says:

Any non-Canadian who isn’t afraid to try Kraft Dinner and actually likes it is cool by me. Looking forward to watching more of his shows.

  18. GSS ex-noob Says:

@Emster: Americans are used to Kraft Mac and Cheese, which is the same minus butter and with cheaper cheese.

Most people can’t tell the difference, though.
