Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! 1. NomadUK Says:

I guess he’s happy he still has one hand left for that ting.

  2. Bruce A Munro Says:

Then there was that time barbarian work was kind of slow and Conan took a gig as an underwear model.

@Tag Wizard: and sometimes a snake is just a snake.

So male nipples are also sheepable? I guess that’s sort of a win for gender equality…

  3. fred Says:

I’d bet any amount of money that Conan was directly copied from a Peter Lupus photo.

  4. NomadUK Says:

fred@3: Sure, but she’s not Barbara Bain. Maybe just a special guest star? Lynda Day George?

  5. Tat Wood Says:

The Conan Swordbook. Is this a catalogue? Or a laptop you can use in hand-to-hand combat?

Well done Conan (or “Rock Stevens”, as this is clearly what Mr Lupus did when he was ashamed of his work – see “Muscle Beach Party”) for getting the Vermicious Knids to spell out his name.

    The Conan Sordidbook

  7. Tor Mented Says:

This is not a swordbook to be lightly tossed aside. It should be thrown with great force.

  8. Ryan Says:

Conan clearly never skips Arm Day, but the question is, does he ever skip Other Arm Day?

  9. fred Says:

This limited edition hardcover only sold for $5.95 in ’69.

  10. GSS ex-noob Says:

Heck, that’s at least 40% as bad as yesterday’s GoT cover.

Good to see Space Sheep getting extra work.

@Bruce: In this case, sure. Look at the one next to the not-arm. It’s bigger than both of hers!

@fred: Good call. Looks like him to me too.

@Nomad: She is a dancer in some vaguely Islamic country who is going to give the next secret clue to Peter.

@Tat: Also a good call, on the VK.

@Tor: I thank Mrs. Parker for bestowing this bon mot upon the world. I’ve used it in several book reviews of my own (and also internet comments). And once IRL.

@fred (again): That’s north of $50 nowadays, but still a decent price for illustrated limited edition.

  11. Tat Wood Says:

I keep hearing Peter Cook as the casting director: I have nothing against your left leg…’

  12. A. R. Yngve Says:

I checked Fred’s link to the book, with this quote from the very pages:
“Conan of Cimmeria was somwething of a lunkhead […]”

Not sure this attitude went down well with the fans. 😉

“Swordbook” sounds like some kind of DIY handicraft thing.
“Let Conan show you how to make your own broadsword with which to cut down your enemies!”
