Every man, or lord of the lands, needs a hairy companion. And what would they do together I hear your mind ask. Well they would go hill walking, dress in lovely princely clothes and watch the sun set together over the lands of… America? Wait… what?
Every man, or lord of the lands, needs a hairy companion. And what would they do together I hear your mind ask. Well they would go hill walking, dress in lovely princely clothes and watch the sun set together over the lands of… America? Wait… what?
What we shouldn’t have is something like ships exploding covering most of the front cover as some four armed goblins fire a cannon. And some blonde women holding her gun as she surveys the scene. Then the title and authors in huge fonts! THEN quotes from reviews just in case we think it’s not busy enough! That’s what we shouldn’t have guys. Right, guys? …Right?
Hello there sir, could I stop you for a quick survey today? Excellent. Imagine that we gave you a cover that included terrible fonts, a man with a very chiseled chin in some sort of armour, holding his short bow. Then pump tons of strange glows and lens flare on places you’d not expect. On scale of one to ten, how likely are you going to take this on a bus with you? Sir? Come back! Sir?
So on this cover I want a vision of the future! I ponder what shall humanity meet? Aliens? OR a huge dragon lizard alien!?! And how shall man react? Peacefully? Or will they be blasting away at it with a shoulder mounted laser gun, wearing tight grey jump suits and wielding their horrendous mullets or bowl cuts… God… I can’t wait for the year 2015.
How about a guy with an offensive mullet playing the banjo with a guy beside him playing a flute… and in the background have their brand of futuristic country folk summoning ghosts! It’s almost too simple….

Billy Awesome’s Art Direction: This cover needs a reptilian lady of the night and her pimp, and a pixie-hatted space businessman. Oh, and something something time travel, so put a couple of proper Victorians and one of those tricorn hat guys in there somewhere. Tie it all together with an orange Creamsicle theme.
