Instead of art direction on this cat master-piece (Published 1999) I am going to give a shout out for Genre for Japan. It’s a science fiction, fantasy and horror auction in aid of the Red Cross Japanese Tsunami Appeal and boy do they have some great stuff! Bidding starts on Monday 28th March 2011 and I highly recommend getting involved!

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! Feels so good!Good Show Sir! (Average: 5.90 out of 10)

Yes. That is a cat. Yes indeed.

  2. Fred Zimmerman Says:

At least there’s an awesome golden cat!

  3. A.R.Yngve Says:

That cover may seem cheap, but in fact it cost a bundle — do you know how much the price of gold-coated cats has gone up lately?

  4. A.R.Yngve Says:

The cat is hypnotizing me with its inscrutable stare… mind going… must… buy… book!

  5. Tom Noir Says:

Tom Noir’s art direction: “…and the author insists that we put his cat on the cover.”

  6. Adam Roberts Says:

It would improve this cover if the author changed her name to “Mrs Slocombe”.

  7. THX 1138 Says:

Is that a very small cat or a very big butterfly?

  8. GullyFoyle Says:

“What do you mean that the photo’s a bit out of focus? I thought you said it was to be used for “Little Fuzzy.”

  9. Phil Says:

Wot, no FONT PROBLEMS tag? I thought the book was about a cat from OLDEN times, I really did.

  10. CathalMagus Says:

The Wild Road has a similar cover http://i.imgur.com/6XVnI.jpg though perhaps not so busy and luminescent.

  11. Dalton H. Says:

A golden cat is the kind of thing Glenn Beck says to buy before tommorrow’s stock market crash.

  12. A.R.Yngve Says:

    Shock! Horror!
If you look carefully at the spiderweb in the background, you can make out the hidden message “Dan Brown is the secret love-child of David Icke”…
