Stop complaining! I only have a shovel to defend myself...Click for full image

You know what a book cover can never have enough of? That’s right chum, text. Lets fire as much on there as possible. And possibly some worm creature being attacked by guys with guns. But that’s secondary, no in fact it’s tertiary, to the fonts with their various marvelous colours and shapes.

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! Feels so good!Good Show Sir! (Average: 7.00 out of 10)

Makes me feel slightly ill. Just slightly, but ill nevertheless.

  2. CSA Says:

“Unadulterated wish fulfilment”…. does anyone know if William Shatner is married?

    … now i feel ill too šŸ™

A worm creature made of wicker, as far as I can tell.

And I love the way the image makes it look as though the cover has been ripped across one corner. It subliminally tells you that you should just tear the book up and chuck it away.

Return to the dream park… To be fair if there was a park you could fight a large worm creature, I’d be there!

From the look of the copy in the photo, somebody has tried doing just that.

  6. CSA Says:

Maybe the giant worm creatures don’t really have the same appeal as Niven’s Terminator Cats in Man-Kzin Wars.

It looks like the movies Westworld and Tremors have been shoved into one book. (which shouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing)

And yet still it came back. Obviously, like Poe’s black cat, it just can’t be killed.

Or your could design sci fi covers like this:

    http://causticcovercritic.blogspot.com/2010/02/this-is-how-to-do-it.html

All this cover needs is Baen on it, add an alien Kzin cat thing, and some Vikings.

  9. A.R.Yngve Says:

    Q: What does ā€œUnadulterated wish fulfilmentā€ mean?

A: I means “Unfalsified coming true of wishes.” So wish anything you like!

    Q: Really?

    A: No.

    I’m pretty sure that’s a euphemism for f*cking.
