Good Show Sir Comments: Here is the wrap-around cover so you enjoy the wrap-around snake view. The camera might not pick it up but everything is embossed. Lady, snake, sword, title. Everything!

Published 1986

Actually, that cover IS a classical work of art!I would touch it without protective gloves.I've seen worse. Far, far, worse.Interesting, but I would still read it in public.Middlng: Neither awful nor awfully goodWould not like to be seen reading that!Awful... just awful...That belongs in a gold-lame picture frame!Gah... my eyes are burning! 1. Tat Wood Says:

The attempt to update the letterhead for the Royal College of Surgeons fell short of expectations.

  2. Dead Stuff With Big Teeth Says:

I’m getting a strong Dee Snider vibe from that naga. It must be the eye shadow.

  3. Dead Stuff With Big Teeth Says:

Why, yes, it was published by Playboy Press! Why do you ask?

  4. Billy Awesome Says:

The oversized scrunchy wristband is doing nothing to conceal the obvious career-ending dislocation she no doubt suffered trying to grasp a sword hilt the same circumference as her neck.

  5. B. Chiclitz Says:

@DSWBT—NAGA. That’s the North American Grappling Association, right? I think she’s an expert grappler, judging by the size of that hilt she’s grappling with. On the other hand, she also appears most literally to be a Twisted Sister.

  6. THX 1138 Says:

Ann-Margret was a surprise addition to the Clash of the Titans cast.

  7. Ikari Gendo Says:

From the size of that letter opener, I assume the she-snake is under a foot long. The tiny ones do have an attitude, though.

  8. Ray P Says:

The alternative cover of Smell the glove. “That’s just nitpicking, isn’t it.”

  9. fred Says:

Didn’t the Wheel o’ Time books use the same font?

  10. Bibliomancer Says:

“But what begins with marriage vows will end in echoing screams of the damned – in spilled blood and sobbing, throat aching terror.”

This quote should have been included in the oath when I married my first wife.

  11. Dead Stuff With Big Teeth Says:

Ancestor of Hunt the Space Witch?

  12. Noel Says:

@ Billy Awesome – Ha! That’s no sword hilt Billy. No, wait, it is. This cover is messing with my mind.

  13. Anna T. Says:

I initially thought the snake was the woman’s leg, and that she was holding the sword between her legs. Which, considering the tone of the cover as it is, would not be out of place at all.

  14. B. Chiclitz Says:

@B’Mancer—hey, I too had one of those!

  15. A.R.Yngve Says:

“But what begins with marriage vows will end in echoing screams of the damned – in spilled blood and sobbing, throat aching terror.”

Isn’t that lurid cover inappropriate for a documentary about marriage? (I kid, I kid.)

“All Heads Turn When Helen Hunt Goes By.”

  17. Dead Stuff With Big Teeth Says:

@TW: candidate for the Animals with Human Faces tag?

  18. Tom Noir Says:

I think the full wrap-around cover is pretty good. But they did a crappy job of cropping it. Snake lady looks like she’s stabbing herself with that sword on the front cover.

  19. Tom Noir Says:

This is the revised title. The original title was similar, but used a different word that rhymes with ‘Hunt’.

  20. Hammy Says:

The way her neck looks, she might be the only person who can’t turn her head when the hunt goes by….

  21. RachelJ Says:

    User review:
“starts out with a wedding and BLOOD EVERYWHERE!!! Pretty darn good.”

  22. B. Chiclitz Says:

@Tom Noir—You mean “All Heads Turn When the Punt Goes By,” the story of a science fiction boat ride?

  23. Bibliomancer Says:

@BC – You must mean “All Heads Turn When the Blunt Goes By”, the story of a fantasy doobie.

  24. GSS ex-noob Says:

@B’mancer — You mean “All Heads Turn When the Shunt Goes By”, the story of a science fiction arterial implant.

  25. Hammy Says:

GSS x-n — You must mean “All Heads Turn When the Bunt Goes By”, the story of errors in a fantasy baseball game…. 😉

  26. B. Chiclitz Says:

I think we all mean “All Heads Turn When the Runt Goes By,” the story of Harlan Ellison.

  27. Raoul Says:

You must mean “All Heads Turn When the Grunt Goes By”, the story of a US Marine.

  28. GSS ex-noob Says:

    Good Show, us!

  29. Tat Wood Says:

To save you all the bother of going through all 22 pages of ‘Sword’-tagged covers, here’s one that allows you to make Penny Mordaunt jokes AND slag off Jeremy Hunt.

  30. Bruce A Munro Says:

“Of course, you wouldn’t think so given the utterly goofy cover art he seems to have most of the time. Get a new publisher, John! I’m begging you!” – Stephen King.
