Ryan Comments: Giving them utili-kilts did not make the household pets any less mischievous.

The 80’s Bangles/Go Go’s fan interactions were intense. A Fortunato cover would be….interesting.

  2. MakkaPakka Says:

Birdman appears to be reacting to the Aten… part of the plot?

  3. JuanPaul Says:

@makkapakka I think birdman is laying a curse GRRM for not finishing A Song of Ice and Fire.

  4. THX 1139 Says:

As we all know, birds and cats are natural friends.

Finally a book I would read on the bus! That’s right everyone, stare at this awesome cover! Don’t pretend you’re looking out the window and avoiding eye contact.

  11. Raoul Says:

Gotta be from a Harry Turtledove story.

  12. Bruce A Munro Says:

Most people think the crossover with Egyptian mythology episode was where GI Joe really jumped the shark.

  13. Tat Wood Says:

@Dare23: Richard Dean Anderson was on a bus next to someone reading this and thought ‘damn! THAT’s what I want to be doing with my life. Screw McGyver.’

  14. Leak Says:

Guns go BRRRR like an Egyptian?

  15. Tracy Says:

This cover was better in conception that execution.

  16. GSS ex-noob Says:

Too many years of SFBC let me know who was responsible for this.

@Makka: Reacting ineffectually — how’s he gonna shoot with his rifle in that position? I guess he’s a big Amon fan.

@JP: Maybe he’s laying a curse on the books that they’ll never be finished; they weren’t even started then. GRRM was still toiling in the TV mines in 1989.

@B’man: I’m on the animals’ side.

@Tat, Bruce, Tat again, and Leak: GSS!

  17. Bruce A Munro Says:

BTW, there actually _was_ a GI Joe Egyptian Gods episode, but sadly there were no scenes where Anubis [1] fired off an automatic weapon.

[1] Looks more like a cat than a dog, really, but the main Egyptian cat-gods were female IIRC.

  18. A. R. Yngve Says:

Cover recycled from Tim Powers’ lesser-known novel THE ANUBIS GATS.

  19. GSS ex-noob Says:

    @ARY: GSS!!!

  20. 1Thunderfire Says:

Sadly, the big guns had long since been raided from the pyramids and we only know of their existence from hieroglyphs and traces of gunpowder and spent bullets.

  21. Nox Says:

@GSSen Definitely outraged at the choice of solar deity :p “How DARE they? I’M the real sun god!”
