Max Bathroom Comments: If you think the album art for Judas Priest’s “Stained Class” is bad, you should see the designs they rejected…

Amy Comments: I wish this snap had turned out better but I was getting suspicious glances from the clerk at the bookstore. At any rate, high focus is not entirely necessary to appreciate a fat, be-earringed red Troll doll brandishing a sword whilst riding on an anatomically challenged horse floating above a cloud in front of an angry sun. Winds of Limbo indeed. Also, it says Moorcock *snigger*

WHAT?!?
Many thanks to Amy!
I want a man charging into battle on his horse. But instead of a horse, lets just have some five legged reptilian-esque horse creature and let’s not actually have a battle, he can just be charging alone through a desert Mars landscape. Make sure the guy is only wearing a loincloth – who cares about armour as long as your family jewels are comfortable?
Joachim’s Art Direction: “Raw adventure” — with a whip, in underwear, make sure there’s a rocket… you know what I mean… it’s science fiction.

Scott B Comments: Sure the cross-eyed owl and cherry-shaking duo being eaten by a giant flower seems bizarre, but the back cover explains that it’s a Bosch painting (so intellectual!) and it’s a better portrayal of the author’s work than any modern artist could make (so they don’t have to pay anybody for a cover!). The back cover also DARES YOU (in type so large they can’t fit a four-letter word on there) to, I don’t know, have acid flashbacks or something. Not that you should do that! But read this book, because the author did that. Or something.

Good Show Sir’s Art Direction: Look… let’s save time with all this actual art stuff that just bogs us down and hire a model. Here, take this firefighters calendar for inspiration.

You might remember this from here!
Tom Noir Comments: Incredibly some editor thought this art was so groovy that they used it twice. It also turns up as the cover of Starsongs and Unicorns by Eric Norden. The 70’s, amirite??

Happy New Year!
Well it’s 2011 and that means we have an entire year of quality book covers behind us. So here we will have a few of the best covers chosen by the Good Show Sir staff, helper monkeys or whatever.
Just want to say thanks to everyone who visits the site! I would have never have thought so many people would be interesting in joining us sharing these wonderful covers. Thanks to all the commenter’s out there, where would we be without your generous sarcastic undertones? Also want to say thanks to all the artists and writers we’ve had come along to the site, we love all these covers but sorry if we’ve caused any tears!
Finally, special thanks to the all those who have sent in and continue to email me covers! I apologise that I haven’t got back to everyone who has sent covers in and I do have quite the backlog but we’ll get through them all.. probably!
How could we not mention:
A personal favourite:
Everyone loves cat people!
CSA chooses magic, wizards, unicorns and fairies:
Finally, well… maybe we should come back later:
I need sci-fi mixed in with something suggestive! Yeah baby!! I am talking about tight space suits that make you wonder how they ever got into them. Huge racks and huge packs, if you know what I mean! Guns shaped suggestively like a… you know… *giggles* Whatever you do don’t mess it up with something like giving the women a perm. Are you listening to me?
