Mark E’s Art Direction: You know how when you cross a fly, an elephant and a ram you get something really awesome that can outfly a fighter plane? Well give me some of those. Oh – and its Sci-fi so best put a stock image of a planet looming far to close in the sky as well.

Good Show Sir’s Art Direction: Remember that time you walked in on your parents as they were making your brother? Yeah… if you could sum up all those feelings and put it into the expressions of the main characters, who must be wearing caped onesies. Instant classic… though you might need some more therapy afterwards.

Man of the Mountian’s Art Direction:So, the story is about a girl trapped in the middle of the black death in midevial England, while everyone back in her time are dying of a flu epidemic. Give us a nice upbeat cover, otherwise nobody is going to buy this!

Don’s Art Direction: Sorry, we can’t afford live models for this one. You’ll have to make do with the, “Barbarian Barbie & Ken With Stunned Horse” play-set.

Jeweleya Comments: This cover is so off-putting to me that I can’t bring myself to read the book. A few highlights –
- The sword dissolving into blue dust
- The barbarian’s barely-decent rags (it’s refreshing that the woman is wearing more than the man, for once)
- The utterly generic, swirly, rainbow-threw-up-on-it background
- And my personal favorite: the horse that looks like it’s just been flung backwards from a giant slingshot
…Indeed, a cover for the ages.

Women love their horses and I’m pretty sure everyone grows up wanting that pony all their life. So that’s what we’ll give ’em. Except give the horse a certain quality, an almost surprised expression as he stares off into the vast distance. And give the L&D letters of the title a black fill. I can’t see that one back-firing.
