Saxy Stevenson’s Art Direction: It’s the end of the world, everyone is going mental, imagine the worst case scenario… Someone cutting the head off a pigeon with loads floating space eyes looking worried… can you imagine the horror, can you?
Published 1968 (maybe)
Book Wench Comments: ‘Fear in Firland’ is a true masterpiece, written in the 1970s by the vicar of Ladywood, it has all the worst bits of Narnia thrown in with some Native American (?) possibly Middle Ages… something… Any cover that can combine flying saucers and squirrels are okay with me!
Published 1974
Good Show Sir’s Art Direction: You know how Rambo poses? And Arnie in all his films? I want that and I want my hunk to have arms the size of tree trunks! One can never have his space hunk too muscular.

Piccol78’s Art Direction: So there’s Rama in the title than you got to play it mystical; no wait; better! Indian stuff goes well with Psychedelia so make it more Grateful Death, a bit hypnotic but with monsters and some Random Escher stuff. Uh, Uh! Don’t forget to put in a Flying Vagina!
Published 1973 (maybe)
Saxy Stevenson’s Art Direction: It’s about an alien, a cute one, you know the kind of one you’d love to kiss, cuddle, stroke, bath etc. Bath… wait that’s a great idea, like with bubbles and maybe some caring hands around it and some big gremlin eyes. Perfect!

Scott B Comments: I was moved to (bad) verse –
Bravely the God of bumblebee-ants
Went forth to battle in his stripy pants
With crossbow held aloft
And leopard-print loincloth
When Venus was conquered he’d dance!

Another bank holiday approaches for those in the UK! And also something about celebrating some sort of zombie vampire’s diamond jubilee… so I hear. So we might be taking a break until Wednesday while we sharpen our stakes and resurrect Peter Cushing to stop the foul beast!
So for our honourable mentions we have a collection of books about J. R. R. Tolkien and one about C. S. Lewis. These are simply fantastic and have all been sent in by Missie Kay so a big thanks to her!
Enjoy the covers and if you are benefiting from a long weekend, like me, I hope you enjoy it!
Missie Comments: That’s not what “high fantasy” means, guys.

Missie Comments: Not a very clear photo, sorry, but Gandalf and Gollum are on his shoulder, and there’s hobbit in his vest pocket.
Missie Comments: Just hangin’ with some orcs.
Missie Comments: Gollum clearly finds J.R.R. more frightening than the giant cave troll staring at him. (back cover of the previous book)
Missie Comments: Bonus cover! C.S. Lewis looks a bit shocked that there’s a naked lady behind him.

Joachim’s Comments: Egg, breaks. Out comes — wait for it! Naked CENTAUR, white hair, breasts swinging, incredibly muscled man in undies and funny shoes trampled… The connecting horse/woman segment looks a tad off…

Good Show Sir’s Art Direction: Nightmare… Blue… well we can put some blue on the cover. But how do we get across… nightmare? I say that like I don’t already know the answer. Two words, cat person… with a light bulb syringe.
