Frank Comments: Let’s go for something colourful! Whatever that is in red in the foreground (a suit? a robot?) clearly needs a couple Behind You tags. One for the Goop From Above, one for the lady with the bow.

Good Show Sir’s Art Direction: Ting! It’s genius, you see. As many tings as you can get on there – I want the cover covered in ting! Oh and maybe a women in a cat suit… but don’t you dare leave her un-tinged!

Good Show Sir’s Art Direction: Imagine the future, my friend… men will be either glowing silver pillars of greatness or riding around on space microlights. Women? Good Show Sir’s Art Direction: Stuck for something to draw eh? All one has to do is follow the editors rhyme, “Golden chair on which a hunk may sit, dinosaur.” Yeah… it’s not much of a rhyme really. But here’s the twist: it’s in space!

Benjamin Comments: “Listen, if this book sells more than 30 copies it’ll be a miracle. It’s done up in a strawberry-ice-cream-pink cover with a bright green toy rocket ship and some cheap plaster busts of LBJ and JFK and a coke bottle and a hamburger on the front — I showed it to a classroom full of gifted children up at the College of Marin and one kid said ‘That’s a toy book.'” – Richard A. Lupoff (Locus #159, 1974)

Frank Comments: I think the cover art is meant to convey that there are three different stories within, but then there is… Font Problem at Infinity!

Good Show Sir’s Art Direction: He’s writing about the fourth dimension? Well I bet there are plenty of space ships, space suits, afros, statues, men in grass skirts and party streamers there!

Ruth Comments: I work in a Library. As I was clearing out some of our not so popular books, I came across this cover and thought of your site immediately.

Sara Comments: It seems that this spaceman has crashed his (surprisingly intact) Z7F rocket on the planet of Floaty Corkscrew Mountain. I have to love his facial expression as he just stands there with his eyes squeezed shut and his feet planted, like he’s bracing himself for take three of, “the bit where I gettentacle-slapped by the angry insectoid-octopus-dragon.”
