A kids’ book? Well you know what kids love: FONTS, terrible fonts – gold outline! Give me: people animals… that’s right, I want a man weasel, man mouse, man rabbit and man mole all on there. Uh, best not make it too cutesy though, give the weasel a bow and arrow.

Art shouldn’t be confined to one side of a book, so span it across front AND back! And I am talking full-on epic here. Guy carried by a lizard horse dragon thing, shoots his laser at… wait for it….. dwarfs with spears riding on the backs of kangaroos! It will be a Sci-Fi craze! I’m sure it will just be as popular as man-tigers… Ahahahaha……………..
Thanks again to Chris R! You’re a legend!

Bruno’s Art Direction:
Setting – barren Mars landscape, red clouds.
Foreground – grinning shark in regal purple robes.
Background – Minotaur-ish creature with spear hauling vaguely human shape.
Perfect!

Art Direction: A giant circular brain, with eyes I might add, in some sort of… drill vice! There’s no way it could look like a giant eyed cookie or strange bondage moon face. Right?

Frank Comments: Just in case the title and its placement aren’t edgy enough, it’s backed up by cover art that should push it over the edge into WTF.

Simon Comments: Not only does the illustration not match the fairy-tale quality of the title (not to mention the story), it does not look like the kind of thing you’d find at a library booksale, where I saw it, and where I was urged by my sister to buy it on the grounds that you can never have too many copies of this book, especially one as bizarre as this.
Publication 1974
I give this two Ronnies!
